Forty years have passed since Dunhua Experimental Middle School was established in the spring of 1978. Whenever I recall the past experiences in Dunhua Experimental Middle School, some kind and familiar figures of teachers and classmates come to my mind clearly, and my heart is full of nostalgia, because my father and my second generation have left different traces in the experimental middle school, which has a deep memory and an unforgettable love for me.
Forty years back, one day in March, 1978, at the age of fourteen, I was taking a class in Class 5, Grade 8, on the west side of the new teaching building in Dunhua No.1 Middle School. Suddenly there was a noise downstairs, and I heard a familiar cry. I knew that my father was directing the freshmen who had just been admitted to a key middle school to carry desks and chairs from the classroom on the first floor to the new school building. The class teacher Wang Baocai, who was giving a lecture, was also attracted by the sound, and opened the window and looked downstairs for a while.
The decision to resume the college entrance examination system in 1977 put China's education and personnel training back on the track of healthy development, and also became a prelude to China's reform and opening up. It was a period of bringing order out of chaos, and everything was in full swing. We were lucky enough to catch up with the opportunity of the development of the times when we were ignorant, bid farewell to all kinds of various critical movements and successive activities of studying, engineering and agriculture, return to the classroom and start a normal study life.
in order to better improve the teaching level, the Dunhua county party Committee and the county government established a key middle school in Dunhua county in March 1978 according to the instructions of their superiors. At that time, the name of this school was Dunhua No.1 Middle School, and the original Dunhua No.1 Middle School was changed to Dunhua No.6 Middle School. Later, the key middle school was named Dunhua County Experimental Middle School, and Dunhua No.1 Middle School also resumed its original name. When the school was founded, my father, Li Jianshu, was transferred from Dunhua No.1 Middle School as the head of the Chinese group and became one of the twenty-one founders of Dunhua Experimental Middle School. His father was forty-five years old that year, and like many teachers transferred to experimental middle schools, he was in the prime of life.
Soon, the first liberal arts class was established among the students in the experimental middle school. My father, who has more than 21 years of teaching experience, served as the head teacher of this class. In order to improve the students' academic performance, my father often went out early and returned late, and devoted all his efforts and energy to teaching and improving the students' academic performance. My father knows every student's study like the back of his hand. There was a girl who only applied for a technical secondary school because of her lack of confidence when filling in her volunteers. Her father thought that she had the strength to go to college, and she constantly persuaded her and even worked for her parents to change her wishes and apply for a university. When he took the college entrance examination in 1979, his liberal arts class achieved excellent results, and most of his classmates were successfully admitted to the next higher school. As expected, the girl who changed her wishes under her father's persuasion was admitted to the university and stayed there to teach after graduation.
In the first few years of the experimental middle school, every time after the college entrance examination, my father would be transferred as the teacher in charge of marking Chinese papers, and then he would be sent to Kouqian Town, Yongji County by the experimental middle school when he came back, where the Admissions Office of Jilin Province arranged for students to be enrolled in various schools after the college entrance examination. My father actively communicated with the teachers in charge of admission in various schools to help those experimental middle school candidates who failed to enroll voluntarily to adjust their schools or majors, thus reducing the possibility of quitting.
? The establishment of Dunhua Experimental Middle School is also the direction and goal of our junior high school students in order to change their destiny. After more than a year of intense and hard study, in July 1978, after the unified examination in the county, I was admitted to the experimental middle school with many students and became the second phase students after the school was established.
At that time, the experimental middle school was located in a courtyard on the south side of the Hotel of Workers, Peasants and Soldiers. It was originally the fifth primary school, and later it was changed into Dunhua Normal School. The school gate was in the east, the wall was made of basalt, and the courtyard was not very large. In the north, there were a row of bungalows with corridors. The lobby of the bungalows was in the middle, with two steps. In the east, there were classrooms where all classes were located, in the west, there were offices and teachers' teaching and research rooms. In the south, there were a row of
After entering the school in August, we were divided into two classes. I was in Class One. The head teacher was Mr. Wang Baocai, the head teacher of Class Five, Grade Eight, No.1 Middle School in Dunhua. After graduating from junior high school, Mr. Wang took us to work in an experimental middle school and became our teacher again. Mr. Wang continued to teach mathematics and gave serious lectures. The head teacher of Class Two is Mr. Zhao Chun Fang, who teaches us physics. The lectures are full of fun. The chemistry teacher is calm Wei, the English teacher is Mr. Li Jinghua, and the PE teacher is Xu Ziyuan. He just graduated from school and taught politics by Mr. Zheng Xianghe. Later, he died young because of overwork. In addition, teachers Zhao Decai and Wang Dawei also gave us math lessons.
The Chinese teacher is Mr. Shao Longbao, who just graduated from the Chinese Department of Yanbian University. He was originally from Shanghai. He is tall. He often wears a blue tunic suit in class and speaks with a Shanghai accent. Mr. Shao once took an essay I wrote about a shop assistant's cold treatment of customers to class two to read. Because Hou Yinghui's sister and my mother both work in the same unit, he told her about my composition. It took me a long time to learn about it, and I was a little excited.
I have been exposed to all courses except English in junior high school, and I know something about it. It's the first time for everyone to come into contact with English. At first, it was a little difficult and not very introductory. I remember that Shen Longwan jokingly told several students around him that learning English requires more association. For example, the word in the first English lesson is "Lesson One", so you can remember it if you associate it with Shen Longwan. In one class, Mr. Li Jinghua taught us that the English word for "teacher" was "teacher". She jokingly said, what "car" is still "train"? It turns out that Miss Li also has a very humorous side.
? Shortly after entering the school, the experimental middle school had to move to the bungalow in the north of No.3 Middle School because Dunhua Normal School wanted to go back to the original school building. The location there was relatively remote, and the distance to school was very long. Many students went to school by bike. At that time, I couldn't ride a bike, so I had to walk. After eating every morning, I came out of my home near the brewery, walked to the workers, peasants and soldiers hotel, turned south, crossed a vegetable field in the south of the department store, walked to Da Nanguan, and then took a walk. Fortunately, it didn't take long for the experimental middle school to move back to its original campus.
? Because the new school building of experimental middle school is under construction, the school often arranges us to take shovels and other tools to work in the new school site located in the north of No.3 Primary School. At that time, it was an open space in scraggy, and the ground was covered with large and small stones. We mainly cleaned and leveled the site, moved bricks and dug the foundation for the new building.
? In December 1978, China blew the prelude to reform and opening-up, and the window facing the world gradually opened, and everything we heard and witnessed was different from the past. On the way to school, you can often see new imported tractors with transparent glass windows in the cab, instead of the old Dongfanghong 28 tractor. The school also organized us to listen to the recording of the report of the overseas investigation group on the playground. These contents are full of novelty for us who grew up during the "Cultural Revolution", which always caused bursts of laughter, and also let us indirectly understand the gap between China and developed countries.
Although the salaries of teachers are not high and there is no subsidy, they devote themselves to teaching and educating people, and take turns to help students with their lessons after work. Before I was admitted to the experimental middle school, I once went to the experimental middle school with my father in the evening. I saw Mr. Wu Yinlong tutoring the previous class in the evening. The classroom was full of students. Mr. Wu stood in front of the blackboard and patiently and meticulously taught the students how to solve problems. Every day, he talked for more than eight o'clock. Every progress of the students embodies the hard work and sweat of the teachers. These teachers turn every bit of faith and diligence into a fountain in the desert and a lamp in the night.
? The vision for the future and the idea of changing one's destiny make every student have a strong desire to learn. The students in the classroom listen carefully, the learning atmosphere is very strong, and the students are dressed simply. The boys and girls basically don't talk, but they are all focused on learning. These teachers and students left a deep impression on the inheritance and accumulation of school history with their hard work and dedication, and also opened up a good school spirit and style of study in experimental middle schools.
? At that time, the school often arranged for students to attend big classes, that is, students in Grade One and Grade Two attended classes together. Since there was no big class, they lined up with stools to attend classes in the Guojiao conference room in the south of the department store.
a few months after entering school, the school is going to set up a liberal arts class among our students, so we called a meeting of the students of the two classes. Yang Minggu, the director of teaching, gave a speech to the students, analyzed the advantages and prospects of the above classes, and asked the students to learn with a clear aim according to their own situation. Because I didn't lay a good foundation in mathematics and physics in junior high school, it was a little hard for me to study mathematics and physics in senior high school. I was very interested in Chinese, history and geography since I was a child, so I decided to study in liberal arts classes, which was another way on the road of learning, but many students were watching and few people signed up.
? After a period of time, the liberal arts class was established. At first, there were only nine students in the class. The class teacher was Mr. Zong Yukui, and the classroom was not enough. So we arranged for us to stay in the dining hall on the south side of the school as a classroom. After the dining table was cleaned, it became our desks. Students in the science class sometimes came to watch the fun during recess. Seeing that the first liberal arts class scored very well in the college entrance examination, the number of students in our class gradually increased. After the first students graduated, we then moved to the classroom on the east side of the north bungalow for classes.
Mr. Zong is responsible for teaching our students' political lessons in this period. He is very tall and wears glasses. His lectures are concise and logical. As the head teacher, he gave up his rest almost every Sunday and came to the class to watch us study like a parent. Teacher Wang Naichen gave us a geography lesson. In addition to the textbook, Teacher Wang asked each of us to buy an "Atlas of Intellectual Youth" and gave us a geography lesson with maps, which enhanced our perceptual knowledge of topography, landforms, mountains and rivers and benefited us a lot. Teacher Jiang Lifeng gave us a history lesson. When he was in Dunhua No.1 Middle School, he used to be the head teacher for several of our classmates. His history lessons were often clear in context, and historical tasks and events were coming to the fore. Teacher Wu Yinlong gave us a math class. He was meticulous and took pains to talk about it. Mr. Wu once had a stomach attack during class. He endured the pain and sweat and continued to lecture. After class, he fell to the ground. I was sent to the hospital and diagnosed with gastric bleeding. Just after the operation, I went on to make up lessons for us. After several decades, Mr. Wu's diligent and dedicated attitude and hard-working spirit are still awe-inspiring.
after my father sent off the graduating class, he was responsible for teaching Chinese to our students, mainly in liberal arts classes. I have also become one of my father's many students. Teacher Zong asked me to be the representative of the Chinese class in the liberal arts class, responsible for collecting Chinese homework and leading students to recite texts in class. Sometimes teachers and leaders from provinces and States attend classes in the experimental middle school. The school arranged for my father to lead our class to attend Chinese classes in the big classroom of No.5 Middle School, and I led students to recite texts. Now that I think about it, I miss that time very much and thank Mr. Zong for giving me such an opportunity to be my father's representative in Chinese class. Teacher Han Qi, teacher Li Changhua and teacher Li Shoushan also gave us Chinese lessons.
Many years later, at a class reunion in Dunhua Finance Hotel, Xu Shulin can still remember the characteristics of my father's class: his eyes looked up at the heights and he talked. My father usually writes the title of the text that the workers talk about in the whole underground class on the blackboard, and then begins to give lectures. My father's blackboard writing left a deep impression on many students, and his strokes were standardized, orderly and meticulous. My father is tall, steady, powerful and clear in his lectures. He led us into the artistic conception of Du Fu's famous poem "A Cottage Broken by Autumn Wind", and realized the poet's broad mind that "there are thousands of spacious houses, and all the poor people in the world are happy", which led us into the scene of "Yueyang Tower". While mastering the knowledge and skills of classical Chinese, we also realized and pondered the ancients' "Worry about the world first, then worry about it." I remember my father told us to recite more idioms in Chinese class. I often took out the Dictionary of Chinese Idioms compiled by the Chinese Department of Gansu Normal University and memorized them one by one during the break. This dictionary is thicker and has more idioms, which also benefited me a lot in the future. Father dutifully completes every class in class and gives his knowledge to the students without reservation. My father himself admitted that he had never given me a small stove and made up classes alone. ?
? At that time, the school conditions were relatively difficult. In winter, there was no heating in the bungalow, and every class had to build a stove to keep warm. The stove in our liberal arts class was built by my father and several teachers with bricks and cement, and then fitted with a stove tube. The students in the class take turns to be on duty. Every morning, they bring pine trees and firewood at home, light the stove and put coal blocks or briquettes on it, so as to make the room warmer and wait for the students to come to class. Sometimes the stove smokes into the house when it meets the headwind.
In our sophomore year, we moved to the classroom on the west side of the bungalow. Although our study and life were very tense, the school arranged for us to do eye exercises every day, and let everyone come out to do exercises on the playground every morning. I remember that when I was about to graduate, I cherished this period of time in high school very much, and I was very careful every time I did exercises.
I am busy with my study and life. I usually get up at about 4: 31 every morning. After washing my face, I come out from home and run along the road to the east of Huodao. Then I turn along a tree-lined path leading to the river in the east of the railway and run to the dam. Then, recite for a while with a book, then walk home slowly, change a book from the front yard to the back of the yard, and then go to school after dinner. I don't go home until late in the evening. After dinner, I usually read a book under the light for a while. Sometimes I go on studying under kerosene lamps or candles when there is a power failure.
? At that time, our family lived in an adobe house. When it was rainy, it often leaked rain. In winter, the cold air drilled into the house along the cracks in the wall and formed a thick layer of frost. These were not taken seriously at all, and there was no time to take care of it. Now that I think about it, I miss that simple and simple day, and the bitterness and tiredness in life will pass without care.
? In the liberal arts class, a male student surnamed Zhang once transferred to Yanbian No.2 Middle School to study for a period of time, and then returned to the experimental middle school. He said that the teaching quality of Yanbian No.2 Middle School was very good and the students' grades were excellent, which was better than Dunhua Experimental Middle School.
