How did Anqing, once one of the five tigers of the Yangtze River, decline?

Anqing is my hometown. After seeing this question and answer, I have a lot of thoughts and have to participate in the answer to this question. The decline of Anqing is very embarrassing. Anqing itself has superior geographical conditions and humanistic foundation, but it happened that the provincial capital of Anhui later chose Hefei. This city-level gap quickly turned Anqing into a small four-tier city, and it was not valued by the leaders in the province all the year round.

The "Five Tigers of the Yangtze River", which was once as famous as Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, has now become the "Four Tigers". The Yangtze River Golden Waterway from Nanjing to Wuhan originally passed through Anqing Port, and the waterway shipping was developed. However, with the construction of expressway, the opening of high-speed trains and bullet trains, and the suspension of passenger traffic on the Yangtze River waterway, Anqing has become a forgotten corner in southwest Anhui.

The melody of Huangmei Opera is melodious and beautiful, and the decline of Anqing city has greatly reduced its cultural influence.

When people mention Anhui now, they mainly think of the mountains and rivers in southern Anhui, Huizhou folk houses and several scientific and educational places in Hefei. Compared with Zhenjiang, the former capital of Jiangsu Province, although the urban jurisdiction area is small, the development level is very high, which makes many Anqing people feel helpless. I summarize the decline of Anqing as follows:

1. Anqing is a city built because of war, not a natural result of economic development. Anqing City was founded in the Southern Song Dynasty. In the tenth year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty (1217), Jin people broke Guangshan (now Huangchuan County, Henan Province), and there were many policemen along the border. Huang Gan, the magistrate, built "Anqing City to prepare for the war" in the former site of Shuzhou (now Meicheng, Qianshan County).

2. Looking at the long river of history, Anqing prospered because it was ruled by the government and the provincial capital, and Anqing also declined because it lost the government and the provincial capital city.

3. Anqing is located in a corner, in the southwest of Anhui Province, and it is not as good as Wuhu, which makes Wuhu, also a famous city along the Yangtze River, get the development opportunity first, but Anqing missed it again.

4, the mistakes of urban geographical division. Anqing city is only that big, but it has to govern three districts and seven counties (cities). Originally, there were eight, but Zongyang County was assigned to Tongling City. Among the seven counties (cities), there are five state-level poverty-stricken counties.

5, Anhui's lagging development has also dragged down Anqing's development. The development of Anqing and Bengbu is a microcosm of Anhui's modern development ideas. The internal reasons for Anhui's modern decline are the shift of the provincial capital to the north, the change of policies, unclear ideas and improper measures.

6. The traffic development in the periphery of the city lags behind (Anqing lost its important position, which is rooted in the transfer of its position with the provincial capital). The Beijing-Fuzhou high-speed railway does not take Anqing, and the bridge in Tongling is ten years earlier than Anqing. The Hejiu line does not take Anqing North, and the Ning 'an high-speed railway in Anqing was only opened to traffic in 2115.

7, Anqing culture promotion is unfavorable. As the cultural card of Anqing, "Huangmei Opera" once flourished for a period of time in the 1991s, and now it is gradually becoming less famous. Anqing once held the Huangmei Opera Art Festival, mainly for attracting investment, but the actual cultural promotion has not seen any effect of attracting investment.

The theory of the Five Tigers in the Yangtze River should have been before the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom! So that's the past, so don't say it. Let me express my personal opinion from someone who is suitable from other places.

first of all: the change of political status!

I personally think this is the main reason, but there are many rumors about why this change happened. After all, it's just rumors, so it's meaningless to investigate. Moving out of the provincial capital is a turning point in Anqing's changes. Why is it the main cause? First of all, the development models of all provinces in China give priority to the development of provincial capitals, so it goes without saying that resources are tilted. Therefore, after the change of the status of the provincial capital, Anhui's position in the country was not high, so Anqing can naturally get less development. Secondly, after the change of the provincial capital, the development focus of the leadership must be poor and white Hefei, which leads to the poor and white provincial capital in the minds of previous teams. Coupled with the strength of Nanjing, Jiangsu next door, Hefei has a stronger desire to catch up! The concept of giving priority to the development of Hefei is unlikely to change in the short term, so the decline of other cities is only a matter of time.

Secondly, the influence of history and culture

Since the change of political status in Anqing, too many people have been unbearable. The rich history and culture of this place have nurtured the descendants who are knowledgeable, and the idea of attaching importance to literature and despising business is the mainstream. After the provincial capital moved out, these people, who were deeply influenced by Confucianism, were very unbalanced and began to feel depressed, feeling that the sky had collapsed and had no fighting spirit! Just like Zongyang was recently drawn out of Anqing, the net name and local people described him as a humiliating event, and we can see some ideas of people here. Specifically, you can go online to search for relevant comments. In fact, zoning is a matter of the country, and any zoning is based on actual needs. No one says that Luoling must belong to Tongcheng but not Anqing, and no one can say that Susong must be under the jurisdiction of Anqing and cannot be directly controlled by the province, so the reaction of a strong cultural atmosphere is that it will not be flexible. Too rigid! Can't keep pace with the times.

Finally, the atmosphere

I have lived in Anqing for two years, and the deepest feeling is that the development atmosphere here is not enough, and there is no such positive and enterprising atmosphere from the leading group to the ordinary people. The leading group craves comfort and doesn't want to do more. Ordinary people don't know how to introspect and indulge in the vanity of the past! There are nothing more than two things that can be seen here: singing Huangmei Opera, going the wrong way in the chess room, self-pity in the forum post bar, and scolding others for suppressing can be seen every day! Anecdotal rumors, more than the true facts, can arouse everyone's * * * sound, as the first floor said that the choice of Petrochemical University, the relocation of the provincial capital, the deliberate suppression of the government, and so on, while admiring the imagination of the screen name, lamented the ignorance and shortsightedness of the urban people! On the contrary, the current development level of seven counties has caught up with and surpassed the urban areas in recent years!

once a salesman from other places came to sell, and said, why is the consumption level and concept of our political, economic and cultural center in Da 'anqing worse than that of the county? Of course, this statement is just his feelings, which is not very accurate as the answer I wrote, but it is true. If Anqing's leadership and his people do not reflect on themselves, suppression may be the best excuse!

What I have felt in Anqing these years, many Anqing people have:

1. Inexplicable sense of superiority: I don't know where it came from?

2. Strong inertia and lack of progress: The hottest industry in Anqing has always been catering and entertainment. Too many people are drinking beer and blowing cows in food stalls and barbecue shops with a salary of 2,511 yuan, too many sisters-in-law who take their babies when they are not at work and then spend every day in the chess room ...

3. It is difficult to recruit workers in factories, and there is a large brain drain in enterprises: those who are not at work in cold weather must have vocational secondary schools.

4. The manufacturing industry has been very few, and there are a lot of real estate entertainment and commerce, and the real economy is too poor.

5 ......

Decline is inevitable, I hope it can be improved gradually ...

Firstly, the provincial capital moved out, taking away all the cultural, industrial and economic resources, leaving nothing for Anqing; Secondly, Anhui people should know that Anhui concentrates the efforts of the whole province to develop Hefei, revitalize northern Anhui and restrict Anqing. Finally, I think that if it is the only provincial capital in the world, it will never move, then Anqing's development will definitely be stronger than Hefei's.

Anqing's "Five Tigers of the Yangtze River" is often said by Anqing people, but it is basically not circulated outside. The so-called Five Tigers of the Yangtze River, Anqing has always been different from Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuhan. Just before the founding of the People's Republic of China, the population of Anqing City was less than 1 million. Can it compare with Shanghai and Nanjing? Like the current special economic zones, can Shantou compare with Shenzhen in the five special economic zones? The rise of Anqing was only in the Qing Dynasty, but during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the tragic World War I in Anqing lasted for more than two years, which crippled Anqing. In addition, Anqing is located in the west corner of Anhui, and it is relatively inconvenient for other cities in the province to go to Anqing.

I don't understand the planning. The area around Ximen is a petrochemical plant, and the pollution is not much to say. The Yangtze River is in the south, and there are paper mills and power plants in the east, so that the perfume lily community can smell the odor. The industries of Jixian Pass, mining, stone carving and cement plant in the north have a long history, and even the crematorium is so close to the residential area. We ordinary people can't understand the decline. We only think that there are petrochemical companies in Ximen. Why can't these polluting enterprises be placed in Ximen later? Why are there polluting enterprises in every district? I want to at least leave us a beautiful, barely livable east gate, which is much more comfortable than now. Now let's move to sum up our experience and follow the municipal government. Which way is the government? The greening must be very good. Move over, get closer and at least breathe more fresh air.

I remember that there was a big taxpayer named Changjiang Tobacco Factory in the early days of liberation in Anqing. It wasn't long before Hefei took it away. How many billions of output value is created for Hefei now? Any advantageous industries in Anqing were plundered to Hefei. And what big project does the province plan for Hefei to swallow? Do you think Anqing and other cities can develop?

The decline of Anqing is hard for ordinary people to say thoroughly. History is brilliant because the provincial capital is in Anqing. Now Anqing's development is backward, with too few pillar industries and underdeveloped transportation. It is better for the north-south artery to enter the high-speed rail era as soon as possible. Anqing's economic development, reform and opening up, without large-scale planning and investment, this small town will drag down the rolling development along the river.

Anqing Yangtze river bridge.

The five tiger cities in the Yangtze River refer to Shanghai, Nanjing, Anqing, Wuhan and Chongqing, which have been formed since modern times. The reasons for its formation are as follows: Anqing had a glorious past in the modern history of China, was a major industrial and commercial city along the Yangtze River, and was one of the cradles of China's modern national industry. The scientist Xu Shou built the first ship in China in Anqing, and the modern weapons industry marked by ordnance in Anqing gathered here; It is equivalent to the other four cities, either directly under the central government or the provincial capital, and Anqing was the provincial capital of Anhui Province at that time. Under the historical conditions at that time, the transportation based on the Yangtze River waterway was developed; Anqing is also a military center, which is known as "the Yangtze River seals its throat, and Wu Chu is the first state in Xinjiang". The Dabie Mountains are in the north of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and the Poyang Lake system is in the south of the Yangtze River. The land on both sides of the Yangtze River is blocked by mountains and rivers, so the traffic between the east and the west or between the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River must pass through Anqing, so that in the Song Dynasty, a certain dignitary decided, saying, "This is a proper city, Anqing."

The question in this paper is how Anqing declined. In other words, it can be said why Anqing didn't develop. We take the founding of the People's Republic of China as the time point. At that time, the five tigers of the Yangtze River were basically on a horizontal line, and the gap was not as big as today. Let's analyze why Anqing didn't develop, and make a list of one or two:

1. The provincial capital moved and lost its position as a political center. Since the partition of jiangnan province in 1667, the prime ministers of Tongcheng, Zhang Ying, Zhang Tingyu and his son have won the provincial capital to their hometown. The development of Anqing in modern times includes its position in modern China, which has been stated above. Because Anqing is really biased towards the southwest corner of Anhui, under certain circumstances, Anhui Province moved its capital to Hefei and lost its position as the political center of Anhui.

2. No traffic center has been formed. The Yangtze River runs across the east and west. In the era of water transportation, a string of pearl chain cities including Anqing, Chizhou, Tongling, Wuhu and Maanshan have formed in Anhui, and the luster of Anqing has been dispersed. Anqing didn't seize the opportunity to communicate the land transportation between the north and the south. Anqing's railway didn't complete the Hefei-Anqing line until the turn of the century, and the railway traffic between Jiangnan and Jiangbei didn't get through. anhui-jiangxi railway abandoned Anqing and built it to Wuhu. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway crossed the Jiujiang River because of the historically unfinished railway bridge piles on the Jiujiang River. Compared with the railway from Hefei to Jiujiang, Anqing formed a "caecum" in this section, and a city without the support of big traffic could not become an economy. Even though Anqing's economic foundation is quite good, the chemical industry represented by Anqing Petrochemical and the transportation machinery industry marked by piston rings and marine diesel engines have no foundation for economic development and become duckweed once the traffic fails to keep up.

3. After the reform and opening up, a series of opportunities were not seized. After the reform and opening up, waves of economic waves surged, and Anqing tried to keep up with the pace and trend, but it never formed a big pattern. Anqing was not put on a big chessboard to play chess, and it was not built into a big transportation network. Anqing's humanistic and cultural advantages were not built into a location advantage through the construction of a transportation network. Although it tried hard to attract investment, it could not drive the flow of capital without traffic context. So far, there is no north-south railway traffic, and the railway transportation in the east-west direction has not been connected. The passenger traffic from the Yangtze River Delta to the west and Nanjing to Anqing ends, and the freight traffic to Tongling ends.

4. Sadly, Anqing will still not get better in the future, because of the traffic jam. As for some people, Anqing was dragged down by the eight counties below, and all of them turned the direction in the opposite direction. It was always the central city that drove the countryside, and the countryside was the lotus throne of the city, so that it could not absorb Zongyang, which led to its being cut.

just write so much. I'm from Zongyang, so I have no passion to write. When Zongyang was cut outside, Anqing's blood was cut off by external forces. It was very uncomfortable to watch Anqing fall day by day, although I thought I was from Anqing from the bottom of my heart.

I am a native of Anqing. Although I have been away from my hometown for more than ten years, I still love my hometown very much. First of all, I know that Anqing was once the capital of Anhui Province and one of the Five Tigers of the Yangtze River. There are some films in China's modern history, many celebrities have been born, and many firsts have been born. As the western gate of Nanjing in the Republic of China, Anqing was also the provincial capital at that time. Later, it moved to Hefei for various reasons, and there was nothing in politics, economy, culture and education. Of course, Anqing. At that time, there was a slogan that meant to gather the strength of the whole province to develop Hefei, restrict Anqing and revitalize northern Anhui. How can it develop? It was not until 1991 that Hefei's gdp surpassed Anqing, and Hefei only developed in recent years. Personally, it has something to do with the leadership and policies above. Anqing can only develop quickly and well if someone above has good policies. Although Anqing is a fourth-tier city, Anqing is still very livable. Anqing people are still positive, and I don't think it is declining. Anqing is still alive.
