Maybe I'm getting old, and I like to miss it more and more. It is very happy to have a space to put trivial thoughts into words and save them.
I left home from my freshman year, stayed in Guangzhou in 2114, and then my family of three came to live in Australia. Because my mother lived in Guangdong for many years, I didn't go back to Dalian much. I didn't remember my hometown again until my mother returned to Dalian to support the elderly. After leaving my hometown for decades, although the changes are great, the unique local accent always makes me feel cordial.
Looking through old photos, I couldn't find a photo of myself with a landmark building in Dalian, only this one of my grandmother with her sister and cousin (before me), which especially reminded me. Pay attention to the big birdcage in the background of the photo. Old Dalian people should remember it. The zoo is here as soon as it enters the gate. In the eyes of children, it is super huge.
Dalian Labor Park, Zoo, Tiger Beach, Xiajiahezi, Bangqu Island and Children's Park were the ones that impressed me the most when I was a child. School spring outing also likes to go to these places. The two stone lions in the labor park are my good friends, and I always play under their stomachs.
When I was a child, Dalian was a big place, except Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. When I grew up in the province, I found that some people didn't know where Dalian was, and there was more than one person. Only then did I realize that I used to wear my hometown filter.
up to now, I still don't know which tier cities Dalian belongs to. It used to be a second tier, and sometimes it is divided into a new tier. For me, it doesn't matter which lines. Anyway, Dalian is the most livable city in the whole Northeast. If we don't consider the problem of making money, Dalian should be in the forefront of the country in terms of living environment alone.
I have lived in Guangzhou and Sydney for more than ten years. To tell the truth, I prefer smaller cities, and it is better to live in a small town or country near the city, so that I can enjoy the resources of big cities when necessary and avoid the crowds and noises of big cities.
Although there are many opportunities for employment and earning money in big cities, the expenses are also high, especially the terrible housing prices. I, who have little interest in eating, drinking, shopping and shopping, really don't like to squeeze into crowded places. Especially the traffic, like Sydney where I am now, it is close to anywhere within half an hour's drive, and I haven't run out of Sydney for an hour. Suppose a friend comes to Sydney to meet him. It sounds like it's a good thing to meet him in the same city, but it's likely that I'll have to toss and turn for hours on the road. If I'm in a small place, I'll have to cross several cities.
Of course, Dalian is not a small place, and it takes nearly an hour's drive from the city center to the farthest area. I think Dalian is a small city and comfortable to live in. Modern facilities, resources and services are available, and they are not so crowded and exhausted.
the biggest feature of Dalian is its unique geographical environment surrounded by the sea on three sides. It is at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula and the southernmost tip of the whole Northeast.
there are mountains and waters, and there is nothing to say about the scenery. Because it is surrounded by the sea on three sides, the air quality is definitely in the forefront in China, and the blue sky is standard. Although it is located in the northeast, the climate is not bad, the four seasons are distinct, it is not too cold in winter, and heavy snow is not a common thing, not to mention heating. It is much more comfortable to stay indoors than in the south. In summer, the sea breeze is blowing, not to mention how cool it is.
in my memory, the most beautiful thing in my hometown is the sea first and the snow second. Occasionally, there will be a heavy snow, the earth will be covered with snow-white quilts, and there will be the sea. How beautiful! The picture below is a photo taken by a friend. Thank you for borrowing it.
In terms of humanities, Dalian and Japan face each other across the sea, so there are more exchanges with Japan. In high school, almost half of my classmates studied Japanese. Coupled with the influence of the past wars, Dalian has left many impressions of Japan and Russia, including buildings, battlefield fortifications, train lines extending in all directions and so on.
When I was a child, there was an underground passage under the floor of my classmate's house, connecting every household, and we also went into it to explore the risks. There are batteries and bomb shelters left on the hill next to the primary school. After school, I went to play with my male classmates through the iron fence of the bomb shelter, and was also called to the stage by the teacher to criticize.
The old tram in the picture below is still in operation, and I especially like this leisurely feeling:
Russian-style architecture:
The picture below shows the famous Russo-Japanese war site Lushun 213 Highland. This seaside hill is a battleground for military strategists.
The picture below shows the site of Prince Qing Su's Mansion in Lushun, Dalian. Prince Su, who is famous for his kindness, is the tenth direct descendant of the eldest son of Tai Chi in Qing Taizong. He used to be the minister of civil affairs of the Qing government, the commander-in-chief of the Han army with a red flag, and the minister of military consultation. In February 1912, he fled from Beijing to Lushun and was arranged by the Japanese military in this place that used to be a Russian villa.
I like places and old objects with historical imprint. Touch this doorknob and imagine how many people have touched it. Maybe the information field is still there.
Although the high-rise buildings in Dalian are not skyscrapers, they are enough to form a beautiful urban landscape, so that you can feel the prosperity of a modern city:
Even in the city, the roads are not as busy as those in megacities at all times. Looking at this empty street, it seems as if you are in a foreign country:
You can find a good place to take photos everywhere. The picture below is taken by my cousin for me, and I especially like it:
When I go to Dalian, I must come.
The villain in the picture below is my cousin holding my daughter, and the red sunset sets off the silhouette of seagulls. It's so romantic:
There are birds selling food by the sea, attracting flocks of pigeons and seagulls;
You can also explore treasures on nearby rocks while it's still light;
I always think the sea will make people open-minded. What's bothering you? As long as you look at the sea as far as you can, you suddenly realize how small you are and how big your troubles are.
There are electric amusement facilities at the seaside of Xinghai Square, which operate even in winter:
Below, the little figure in the sunset is still my cousin and daughter, as if I took it? How can I take such a beautiful picture?
Overlooking the night view of Xinghai Square from a tall building is a bit of a God's perspective. The lighting color of the cross-sea bridge will change constantly:
At some time, Xinghai Square has a music fountain. Find an open-air bar with a good view, drink, chat and watch the fountain ...... both urban and quiet.
A bright moon shines in the sky, reflecting each other with the circular fountain:
If it is a summer night, this row of beer will be more attractive. Dalian often holds various festivals, such as International Fashion Festival, International Beer Festival, Dalian Art Festival and so on.
everyone who grew up by the sea has crossed the sea. Find a reef like this and try your luck after the tide ebbs. When I was a child, I could dig clams (flower shells) at the seaside casually, and I could catch crabs and sea urchins of all sizes at a high level. It was also a harvest for children to pick up kelp and sea polo. Once I swam to the seaside in spring, I also touched a sea cucumber. The neighbor boy dug a big shrimp crawl (also known as Setaria or Pippi shrimp) in the sand.
now when it comes to eating seafood, it's like a big meal. It's no exaggeration. We grew up by the sea, so to speak, we grew up eating seafood, and we didn't think much of it if we ate too much. When I was a child, eating sea red and clams were piles of table shells, and all kinds of sea fish were the most common things on the table.
People by the sea often hang dried seafood in front of and behind their houses:
When I was a child, the sea was outside my grandmother's backyard. I often smashed oysters (oysters) on the rocks, just like the picture below. I broke them and put them in my mouth and ate them. They were salty and fresh. Sometimes I eat it with tortillas. I especially like to eat cornmeal cakes made by grandma, and often ask my mother for "yellow steamed bread".
grandma's seaside is like this. It used to be a fishing village, but now it has become an urban area.
I don't like cooking myself, but I like to visit local vegetable markets when I travel. The more local, the better. Like the picture below, the sea goods, earth eggs, and fruits and vegetables grown at home feel not only to buy food, but also to feel their days.
Look, the abalone in the lower left corner has just been fished out of the sea. It's only five RMB each. I saw it when I visited the morning market in Lushun the year before last. I bought it all at once and gave it to my mother to eat slowly in the refrigerator.
speaking of delicious food in my hometown. The picture below should be known to everyone in Dalian.
on the upper left is braised pork, and I still often eat it up to now. In the winter of primary school, after school, there is a stew shop on the roadside to the station, and eating a small bowl of steaming stew is warm and enjoyable. There are two kinds of sea polo in the picture, one is round, and the other is long. The long one is to break its tail with a keyhole, suck it on its head and swish it into its mouth. It's the same meaning as cracking melon seeds. You can't eat much, but you enjoy it as a process.
Although pancake fruit didn't originate from the northeast, it was my favorite when I was a child. It was evening after high school. When I bought a pancake fruit at the station, I felt it was the most delicious in the world when I was hungry and cold.
On the top left in the picture below, it's pancakes from Shandong. I love them, too. Who invented this thing? It's amazing. Edible "paper" is easy to keep.
Speaking of China's stomach, we can't help but mention Sugar-Coated Berry, which people miss most abroad. Most thin people love sour food. I don't leave hawthorn products all the year round. I can't buy Sugar-Coated Berry in Australia, so I have to always eat hawthorn slices and hawthorn rolls.
I wrote before that I should have been from the countryside in my previous life, and the objects and buildings in the countryside of China made me feel particularly cordial and comfortable. My friend knows this, so he specially took me to this restaurant full of flavor in the northeast countryside. There was a heatable adobe sleeping platform, but unfortunately it was booked that day, so I am very satisfied with it. The original wood style of dining table is my favorite natural wind.
Look at the boldness of the people in Northeast China. The pot is too big, so you can stir-fry directly with a shovel. Seafood hodgepodge, served directly with shovel, which is atmospheric enough. For me, this kind of stew in the northeast can arouse my appetite more than any exquisite western food and Japanese meal.
Of course, you can also eat delicious food from all over the country in Dalian. I accidentally found that there is a blue mud lane at Qingniwa Bridge, which is unique.
Very chronological memory: popcorn stove, wheel well, and shaver:
You can also go to Venice Watertown by the sea and find an open-air restaurant with beautiful scenery to grab something to eat:
Dalian Venice Watertown is definitely a popular place for wedding photography. See the bride in red in the picture below?
Dalian has not only a railway and tram network extending in all directions, but also several new subway lines. It's so considerate to see the prompt below in the subway station, and finally consider the difference in temperature requirements between strong men and thin women. I'm afraid of the cold. I have to go to the car with the weakest air conditioning.
One day, when I went to the morning market, I passed a bungalow. The old lady was sitting by the road outside the courtyard to enjoy the cool, so I chatted with her. After a while, the old man came back and invited me to sit in the house. I didn't have the nerve to go in. I just looked in the yard. It doesn't matter at first sight, but I found the big sauerkraut jar in my childhood memory. When I was a child, in winter, there was a jar of sauerkraut outside my house.
It looks a little scary and dirty, but actually it tastes much more authentic. It's a real northeast Chinese cabbage. The temperature in winter in the north is low, and there is no problem of bacteria mildew. Rest assured to eat. It is the authentic baby that is not on the table in ordinary people's homes.
On the way, there are old people walking, chatting and exercising. I really hope I can have such an environment when I am old:
I wonder if I will be lucky enough to go back to my hometown to support my old age. Whether it's falling leaves, being at home all over the world, my hometown will always be the most beautiful scenery in my heart!
