Customs of Laba Festival:
1, boil Laba porridge
In the Song Dynasty, seven ingredients were used to cook Laba porridge, including walnuts, pine nuts, milk mushrooms, dried persimmons, chestnuts and Mi Dou, which symbolized the "seven treasures" of Buddhism and contained five tastes of life, namely sour, hot, bitter and salty, so it was called "seven treasures and five flavors porridge". Later generations don't know what it means, so they often call Laba porridge "eight-treasure porridge", and sometimes they collect eight kinds of Mi Dou fruits to cook porridge. In fact, the ingredients of Laba porridge in different dynasties are different. Mr. Lao She also laughed that Laba porridge ingredients are "small agricultural exhibitions". Therefore, as long as it is a variety of ingredients, there is no need to entangle in eight ingredients.
Step 2 soak laba garlic
Pickled Laba garlic is mainly popular in the north of China, especially in the north. Laba garlic is pickled with vinegar, and the finished product is jade, slightly sour and spicy. There is also the story of eating Laba garlic in old Beijing, which comes from the homonym of "garlic" and "calculation". In old Beijing, shops had the custom of checking out in the twelfth lunar month. Generally, accounts are settled from Laba. As the saying goes, "Eat laba rice to celebrate the New Year", so Laba Festival is also called Laba Festival.
