Shixing County, which belongs to Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the north of Guangdong Province, at the southern foot of Nanling Mountains, in the upper reaches of Beijiang River and in the middle reaches of Zhenjiang, with a land span of113 54'-14 22' and a latitude of 24 31. The total area is 2 13 1 km2. Shixing County is located in the subtropical zone, with abundant heat and rainfall throughout the year, with obvious alternation of cold and warm, low temperature and rainy in spring, high temperature and humidity in summer, warm days and cool nights in autumn and rainy days in winter.

Shixing County is the hometown of Zhang Jiuling, a famous figure in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, Tan Dachu, a senior minister in the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Fakui, a famous anti-Japanese, and Zhu Xiping, a mathematician. Shixing is a pure Hakka county, and Hakka dialect is spoken throughout the country.

Shixing County has jurisdiction over 9 towns including Taiping Town, Mashi Town, Dungang Town, Barrow Town, Chengnan Town, Shensuo Town, Si Qian Town, Dwarf Town, Chengjiang Town and Shendu Shuiyao Township, with 14 neighborhood committees and13 villagers' committees. The county government is located in Taiping Town.

In the spring of 263, in the sixth year of Yong 'an, Sun Xiu, in order to strengthen the development of Lingnan area and build a strategic rear area, Nanxiang County, Sun Wu's analysis county, was located in Shixing County. This is where the name Shixing began. 1June, 983, Shaoguan area merged with Shaoguan City, and Shixing County was subordinate to Shaoguan City.
