Avoid being late.

The interpreter should arrive 15-20 minutes earlier than the client, and under no circumstances should he be late. If you encounter traffic jams or special delays, you must call to explain. Pay attention to dress.

Unlike simultaneous interpreters sitting in a box, most accompanying translation projects need to show up, so pay attention to dress, and don't mix them casually, which looks sloppy. As an accompanying translator, you may need to be around foreign guests, and formal attire is preferred.

4. Read words and observe emotions

Accompanying translators should learn to observe words and deeds. In many cases, accompanying translation has to deal with more than just formal negotiation occasions. Since customers hire you and pay for a day's work, they certainly want you to help them in all aspects of their lives. For example, when the customer can't read the menu, can't find the bathroom and wants something, the translator should take the initiative to ask if he needs help.

5. Removal costs

China people generally think that "raising money hurts feelings", and foreigners advocate business. If the customer insists on payment, be sure to say whether it is a one-time payment or a daily payment. If you don't dare to say it, you will still suffer.

6. Pay attention to references

Generally speaking, the translation company will transfer the fees to the account within one month after the completion of the task, so unless the customer pays on the spot in advance, the fees will rarely arrive within one week. Don't contact customers directly without references. Even if the introducer allows you to do so, you should report the situation and progress of the project from time to time, otherwise it will leave a bad impression of "ignorance" or "ingratitude"

In addition, if the interpretation project is introduced by others, you must inform the introducer when you receive the money. The introducer doesn't ask you to be grateful to him, but at least you should respect others' right to know, especially because if there is any problem in the middle, the introducer often needs to help you solve it.
