The minnows have a slender body, a flat side, a straight back and a slightly convex abdomen. They have obvious abdominal ribs from the base of pectoral fin to anus, with a body length of about 15 cm, a slightly triangular head, a mouth tip position, a mouth fissure inclined upward, eyes in the front of the head, gill rakes 15 ~ 18, and teeth swallowing. At an obvious angle, the dorsal fin ⅲ7 has smooth spines, which is about 2/3 of the head length. The starting point of dorsal fin is behind and above the starting point of ventral fin, while pectoral fin is less than ventral fin, and ventral fin is less than anus. The gluteal fin ⅲ 1 1 ~ 14, the caudal fin is deeply forked, the lower leaf is slightly longer than the upper leaf, and the back of the body is light blue and gray.
