The law provides that:
Regulations of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone on the Total Prohibition of Eating Wild Animals
Article 2 It is forbidden to eat the following wild animals and their products:
(1) Wild animals under special state protection and other terrestrial wild animals that naturally grow and breed in the wild environment;
(2) Terrestrial wild animals artificially propagated and raised.
It is forbidden to use animals and their products for non-edible purposes such as scientific experiments, public display and pet keeping.
Article 3 Edible animals include:
(1) Pigs, cattle, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons and quails listed in the National Catalogue of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources and other poultry and livestock raised for the purpose of providing the food listed in the Catalogue;
(2) Aquatic animals not prohibited by laws and regulations.
Article 6 No unit or individual may raise animals that are forbidden to eat for the purpose of providing food; Breeding for non-edible purposes such as scientific experiments, public exhibitions and pet breeding shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and regulations.
Article 7 No unit or individual may publish advertisements to publicize and induce the consumption of prohibited animals and their products, and may not use the names, nicknames and patterns of prohibited animals and their products to make catering signs or recipes.
Article 9 Promote the cold chain distribution of edible animals.
The following acts are prohibited:
(1) Slaughtering poultry and livestock without permission;
(2) selling slaughtered poultry and livestock without permission;
(3) selling live poultry and livestock to consumers for the purpose of providing food.
Sixteenth in restaurants, restaurants, canteens and other places in violation of the provisions of Article 2 of these regulations, the market supervision department shall order it to stop the illegal behavior, confiscate the animals and their products, and impose a fine in accordance with the following provisions:
(1) Those who knowingly eat wild animals and their products under special state protection shall be fined between five times and thirty times the per capita value, and those who organize eating shall be given a heavier punishment;
(2) Those who knowingly eat animals and their products that are forbidden to eat except wildlife under special state protection shall be fined between two times and ten times the value of each consumer, and those who organize eating shall be given a heavier punishment.
Whoever violates the provisions of Article 2 of these regulations outside the places specified in the preceding paragraph shall be punished in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and regulations.
