Because the gallbladder has been storing bile secreted by the liver when it is undigested, it is discharged through the opening and closing of major duodenal papilla when it is undigested after cholecystectomy, and the compensatory expansion of the common bile duct is caused by the closing of major duodenal papilla when it is undigested.
