Volunteer projects of Nepal Volunteer Association

International volunteers who come to Nepal to teach English or other subjects (mathematics, science, population and environment, art, history, music, etc.) in public or private schools will be welcomed. Because Nepali students like to take classes taught by international volunteers. By joining this project, volunteers can have the opportunity to teach Nepali children and contribute to Nepali education. In public schools, instruction is usually in Nepali, but in private schools instruction is generally in English. So it is better to teach children English courses in public schools, while in private schools it is better to teach them other subjects in English. In addition to these teaching activities, volunteers can also set up new creative activities and assist children in participating in other activities arranged by the school. Volunteers can teach children about minors’ rights, human rights, medical care, environmental protection, etc., and spread knowledge to the entire Nepali society through children.

Generally speaking, Nepali schools start at 10 a.m. and finish at 4 p.m. There are classes from Monday to Friday and Sunday. Nepalese students have eight classes a day and are aged between 3 and 16 years old. When volunteers attend classes, they receive help from subject teachers. Volunteers can share their knowledge, teaching methodologies and resource collection methods, and learn from each other with teachers.

In Nepal, government holidays are equivalent to study holidays. In addition, schools will be closed during winter, summer and exam preparation periods. During holidays, NVC provides other activities such as learning Nepali language, culture, traditions and visiting places of interest.

There are many temples here home to Nepali and Tibetan monks. More than 20% of the exiled Tibetan monks live here. This makes it even more difficult to provide good education to monks. And they are eager to learn English and understand the major events happening in the outside world, but they do not have appropriate opportunities. The modest efforts of volunteers can bring huge improvements to the lives of local monks. Volunteers can teach them English and share knowledge about first aid, environmental protection, health, personal hygiene and human rights. At the same time, you can also experience the subtleties of Buddhism and learn to apply Zen methods to your life. Some children have lost their parents, some have died early due to lack of medical care, food or natural disasters, and some have left their homes at a young age to work in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara and other places. Most of them live on the streets, sleeping rough and struggling to survive. Some children under the age of 14 work as child labor in hotels, hotels, and wealthy families. They earn meager wages and are ruthlessly exploited. They often feel abandoned by the world. Some children are adopted into orphanages, but are often treated poorly. They did not give them due care, food, clothing and education. But compared to the more unfortunate children, they already feel very satisfied. We will let you teach in an orphanage. You can teach them English or other subjects that you are interested in, as long as you think it will be helpful for their growth. As of 2014, NVC does not have its own orphanage, we help other orphanages. NVC opposes any form of child labor in Nepal and liberates them from it, while also giving street children the opportunity to receive education. Based on the huge Due to population pressure, people are even growing crops in marginal areas, and many forests and open spaces have been turned into cultivated land. On the one hand, this poses a great threat to wild animals and birds; on the other hand, people suffer from natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, soil erosion, etc. The environmental state here is deteriorating. Farmers use a large amount of pesticides, insecticides and fertilizers to promote the growth of crops, but on the contrary, doing so will reduce the fertility of the land and cause environmental pollution. Another troublesome phenomenon is that since most crops here rely on timely monsoon rainfall, untimely rainfall caused by climate change will reduce crop yields. By joining this project, you can join farmers by watching them working by hand on their farms. You can teach them some modern planting methods to help them increase their yields, and teach them how to use pesticides and fertilizers correctly. There is a lack of corresponding medical equipment here. Local rural people are reluctant to go to health stations or hospitals to see a doctor when they feel unwell. On the contrary, because of the influence of existing culture and tradition, they are more willing to see a witch doctor. On the other hand, people there suffer from various diseases due to lack of nutritious food, so a large number of medical workers are needed here.

We will arrange you in a rural or urban health station or hospital according to your wishes. You will work closely with local doctors and nurses in Nepal, assisting them in diagnosing patients and prescribing medication for treatment. Most of them live in rural areas and are deprived of opportunities to receive education and develop skills. Therefore, they often can only make some handmade products and even work more than 16 hours a day. As of 2014, they are still financially dependent on their husbands. The problem of inequality between men and women is very serious. Women do not get their due rights but are regarded as a secondary group.
