What are the conditions for damaging RMB exchange? For details, please refer to the Measures for Exchange of Broken RMB:
Article 1 These Measures are formulated to protect the national currency and people's interests and promote circulation.
Article 2. Incomplete RMB in any of the following circumstances shall be fully exchanged with the People's Bank of China:
Incomplete RMB exchange method
1. No more than one-fifth of the face is incomplete, and the rest of the patterns and characters can be connected as they are;
2. The face is stained, burnt, wet with water, soaked in oil, and discolored, but it can distinguish between true and false. The face is complete or incomplete by no more than one fifth, and the patterns and characters of the rest of the face can be connected as they are.
Article 3 Where the par value exceeds one-fifth to one-half and the rest patterns and characters can be connected as they are, they shall be exchanged with the People's Bank of China at half of the original par value, but they shall not be used in circulation.
Article 4 Incomplete RMB shall not be convertible under any of the following circumstances:
1. More than half of the coupon is incomplete;
2. There are stains, burns, water, oil bubbles and discoloration on the face, so it is impossible to distinguish between true and false;
3. Those who deliberately dig, alter, cut and paste, piece together and remove one side.
Incomplete RMB that is not convertible shall be invalidated by the People's Bank of China and shall not be used in circulation.
