In the Ming Dynasty, eating pork was an important taboo. If you say "eat pork" in front of the emperor, it is "eat pork", which is obviously rebellion. Therefore, Zhu Yuanzhang will be very strict with the speakers, but pork is an indispensable food on the table, which makes the chefs very headache.
On one occasion, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered the chef to eat "Yuanbao meat". The chefs were dumbfounded and secretly inquired about the ladies-in-waiting. They come to eat meat. So the chef used expensive pieces of meat. Zhu Yuanzhang ate it and thought it was not pork, so he killed the chef. Later, another chef will wash the real ingots and stew them in fried meat. This has both meat and ingots. But meat is not pork. Zhu Yuanzhang was still very angry and killed the second chef. Ma Huanghou hurried to the kitchen. The emperor wanted to eat pork. It will save everyone's life. Zhu Yuanzhang was very happy that the pork was ready, but it made the people panic. Everyone knows this, and they are worried that raising pigs will be punished by the emperor. So they sell pork at low prices and then turn to other livestock and poultry, so pork is very scarce. Zhu Yuanzhang was very depressed. He gives people food, but he can't make them suffer.
Later, in order to avoid the homonym of pig and his surname Zhu, the Ming Dynasty renamed the pig tapir. This is neither homophonic with Zhu nor will it affect people's life and development. The pork industry flourished again in the Ming Dynasty.
