Ming Lu Banquet is a banquet stipulated in the imperial examination system, which began in the Tang Dynasty and lasted for thousands of years. Mainly used for farewell dinner and inspiration. Minglu Banquet was named after the royal banquet hosted by the Ming emperor for imperial examination students, and was mainly made of "deer". It is used to show the emperor's kindness and respect for talents. Another way of saying it is that deer is homophonic with "Lu", which means promoting to a higher position and making a fortune. The entry of new subjects is the beginning of "Lu".
In the Tang Dynasty, the examination at the county level was called Xiekao, and the winner was called Xianggong, also known as Juren. The Ming Road Banquet is a banquet for the new candidates who have taken the provincial examination. Because the poem "Luming Literature" in The Book of Songs Xiaoya Luming Literature was sung at the banquet, it was named Minglu Banquet.
On the second day after the results of the rural examination were announced, local officials held a banquet. In addition to the new imperial examination, there are also examination room staff (called screen officials inside and outside). The Ming and Qing dynasties followed the practice of the Tang Dynasty, and the banquet in the Ming Road was hosted by the local governor for the students who took the provincial examination.
In the Qing dynasty, the banquet in Ming Road was even more grand. The banquet was hosted by the governor, that is, a banquet was held to entertain the newcomers and examiners. During the dinner, Luming Literature's poems were not only sung, but also Kuixing Dance was performed, which was unprecedented and lively.
From the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the Ming Road Banquet, which lasted for thousands of years in the imperial examination and education system, was popular in the Northern Song Dynasty, mainly for farewell and encouragement. However, in the Southern Song Dynasty, more emphasis was placed on restoring the ancient etiquette system and the political and religious functions of the Ming Road Banquet, and red tape increased the local economic burden, making it almost useless.
Minglu Banquet was named after the royal banquet hosted by the Ming emperor for imperial examination students, and was mainly made of "deer". It is used to show the emperor's kindness and respect for talents. Deer have always been regarded as immortal beasts, and imagery is a rare talent; The emperor is the son of heaven, and "Ming" means God-given, so this royal banquet with the emperor as the east and talents as the guests is called "Ming Lu Banquet", which means that the son of heaven looks for talents and attaches importance to them.
Another way of saying this is that deer is homophonic with "Lu". The ancients often used deer to symbolize the meaning of "Lu". As the hope of promotion and wealth, the entry of new subjects is the beginning of "Lu". However, because the ancient people were modest and reserved, they didn't want to talk about wealth. Because they were different from Confucianism, they chose such a poetic name as "Luming Literature".
