Children's absorption of iron has two aspects. On the one hand, it absorbed and preserved iron from the mother during the fetal period, and on the other hand, it was absorbed from the mother's breast milk after birth. Therefore, if mothers want to supplement iron to their children during lactation, they should eat more foods with high iron content, increase the iron content in breast milk, and let the children eat enough iron.
There are many foods rich in iron, such as lean pork, egg yolk, animal liver or blood, soybean and its bean products, fungus, mushrooms, red dates, green seasonal vegetables and so on. While eating iron-containing foods, we should also pay attention to eating foods rich in vitamin C, because vitamin C can promote the absorption of iron. In addition, iron-containing foods should not be eaten with foods containing oxalic acid or tannic acid, otherwise they will combine into insoluble substances, which will affect the absorption of iron.
Six months later, the child is still breastfeeding, but the child can already start to contact complementary food. At this time, mothers can give their children some complementary foods with high iron content, such as vegetable paste or meat paste, which can better supplement iron. It should be noted that if the child is seriously deficient in iron, iron should be supplemented after being diagnosed by a doctor.
