Penny's Bay is located in the northeast of China, Hong Kong and Lantau Island, and belongs to Tsuen Wan District administratively. At present, it is the location of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
brief introduction
Penny's Bay used to be the site of Cai Li Shipyard. During the period of 1990, the Hong Kong government plans to develop it into a container terminal. However, in 1998, Disney planned to develop Disneyland in Hong Kong and chose Penny's Bay to turn Penny's Bay into a tourist area.
Due to the operation of Cai Li Shipyard for many years, as many as 30,000 cubic meters of dioxins, heavy metals and hydrocarbons have accumulated in the soil. In order to treat these wastes, they are first transported to the temporary dioxin treatment plant in Daokou Bay for preliminary treatment, and finally destroyed in the chemical waste treatment center in Tsing Yi. The operation is estimated to cost as much as HK$ 450 million.
