First, the creative background
This poem was written in the tenth year of Tang Tianbao (75 1). During the ten years of Tianbao, Du Fu traveled to Chang 'an, but his fame and fortune were hopeless and he was riddled with illness. He stayed in the hotel for a long time, so that it rained and gave birth to fish, moss and couch, and he was extremely poor. On New Year's Eve, Du Fu had no choice but to stay at his brother Dewey's house for the New Year.
