Iodine is the main raw material for making thyroid hormone. Excessive intake of iodine will lead to aggravation of hyperthyroidism or delayed recovery. Absolutely avoid iodine. We should do this.
(1) Don't eat all seafood, try to eat non-iodized salt. The daily iodine intake of normal people is 150 μ g/day, while that of hyperthyroidism patients should be less than 50 μ g/day. We classify iodine-containing foods into three grades. The first category contains thousands to tens of thousands of micrograms of iodine per100g, including kelp, seaweed, moss strips, jellyfish and so on. The second category contains hundreds of micrograms of iodine per100g, including sea crabs and shellfish. The third category contains dozens to hundreds of micrograms of iodine per100g, including: marine fish, shrimp, etc. The iodine content of iodized salt is generally about 20-30 micrograms per gram of salt. Therefore, compared with hyperthyroidism patients, all seafood is high iodine food, and iodized salt should be avoided as much as possible.
② Reduce the chances of eating out. The salt used in restaurants is generally iodized salt, and in the same wok, we can't guarantee that the last guest didn't order seafood. It is inevitable that a lot of iodine will be mixed into the food during cooking.
③ Avoid using drugs and cosmetics containing iodine. Drugs include: amiodarone, an antiarrhythmic drug; Contrast agent needed to enhance CT; Iodine for disinfection; Iodine-containing vitamin tablets (including Shancun and Jinshikang). ); Cosmetics and other aspects include: facial cleanser, shampoo, facial mask, foot bath powder and so on.
④ Avoid traveling to coastal cities. Seafood is a specialty of coastal cities, and it is inevitable to consume a lot of iodine during traveling and dining. It can even be said that even the sea breeze contains a lot of iodine. In short, we should try our best to avoid excessive intake of iodine (in eating, using and playing) in life, so as to "absolutely avoid iodine".
Hyperthyroidism occurs after pregnancy. As long as TRAb is positive, iodine should be absolutely avoided. Graves' disease hyperthyroidism is to absorb iodine desperately and produce thyroid hormone desperately, resulting in too many hormones, so you can't supplement iodine (raw materials). The fetal thyroid gland has not yet developed, what is really needed is the Ft4 (finished product) of the mother. As long as the mother's thyroid function is normal and FT4 is sufficient, the fetus will not be short of iodine. Even if the level of thyroid hormone drops in the late stage because of hyperthyroidism drugs, Perrin (L-T4) should be added, which is the finished product, not the raw material iodine.
In terms of diet, patients with hyperthyroidism should also pay attention to: ① irritating food (such as spicy food, coffee, strong tea, etc. ): Patients with hyperthyroidism may have symptoms of sympathetic nerve excitement such as palpitation, fear of heat, mental excitement and insomnia. Irritant food can aggravate the above symptoms, and should be avoided before thyroid function is completely controlled. In addition, some cold medicines, such as Tylenol. Baifuning, etc. In the instructions, it is written that "hyperthyroidism patients should use it with caution" because these drugs contain pseudoephedrine, which can lead to increased heart rate and can be taken after thyroid function control. ② Calcium: Hypermetabolism is one of the characteristics of hyperthyroidism. Therefore, middle-aged and elderly patients with osteoporosis should be supplemented with calcium and vitamin D. Vitamins: Hyperthyroidism patients are likely to cause vitamin deficiency. In addition, hyperthyroidism itself and the application of antithyroid drugs in the treatment of hyperthyroidism cause leukopenia, and vitamin supplementation is also needed.
Second, avoid infection.
The total number of white blood cells and granulocytes in hyperthyroidism patients is low, which is easy to cause infection. If infection occurs, it will make the controlled hyperthyroidism relapse or aggravate, and even appear hyperthyroidism crisis. Studies have shown that infection can increase TRAb and prolong the course of hyperthyroidism. Therefore, we should learn to prevent all kinds of infections. Once signs of infection are found, we should treat them as soon as possible. It is not recommended to rely on our own resistance to fight against them. ?
Third, pay attention to rest
Patients with hyperthyroidism should not often stay up late and engage in strenuous activities such as long-distance running, swimming and mountain climbing; If the illness is serious, you should rest quietly or even stay in bed. In addition, because some patients with hyperthyroidism may be accompanied by exophthalmos and extraocular muscle paralysis, they are prone to visual fatigue and eyeball swelling. Reading books and newspapers for a long time, especially watching TV, often causes eye pain. Therefore, patients with this disease should pay attention to reducing eye irritation and visual fatigue.
