Folk activities are unique, and many folk customs still retain the features of the Central Plains, which are called "living fossils of Central Plains culture". After the Spring Festival every year, "the 16th day of the first month" is the climax of several villages in Sulong to show their folk culture. On this day, all the relatives and friends in the village sat down and celebrated the Lantern Festival with wine.
In just a few days, many kinds of folk activities in the village attracted tens of thousands of people with their simplicity, ruggedness and grandeur, such as singing big dramas, marching with guns, burning guns, awakening the lion in he qing, marching around the village with ancient lanterns at night, fireworks display and other folk activities, which formed a unique folk lantern festival scene in Dajia Village. It's also the last festive day of the New Year, so it's grand and warm.
The custom of grabbing guns began in Xintang Village from the Qing Dynasty until the Cultural Revolution, but it was stopped for more than ten years due to historical reasons. After the reform and opening up, this activity was re-inherited, and it was widely promoted. For safety reasons, it was changed from the original gun-grabbing to the current public bidding. Whoever paid more will light the first gun. After the gun was released, the gun-heads left behind were taken home by the bidders, and those who bid for the first gun all went out to do business. Although superstition can make the winning bidder more prosperous and have a happy family, in fact, it is also blessed to do more good deeds, because the bid money is used for public welfare undertakings, such as building roads and schools.
