Qufu is the capital of Lu in the Spring and Autumn Period and the hometown of Confucius, a thinker, educator and founder of Confucianism in China. There are rich cultural heritages here, the most famous of which are the three holes in Qufu-Confucius Temple, Confucius House and Confucius Forest.
Located in Qufu City, the Confucius Temple is magnificent and resplendent, and it is the largest place to worship Confucius in China. There are nine courtyards in the temple, which are divided into left, middle and right roads with the north-south axis, with a length of 630m and a width of 140m. There are more than 460 temples, halls, altars and pavilions with 54 doorways. 13 "Imperial Monument Pavilion". Visiting the Confucius Temple should focus on the ancient inscriptions such as Kuiwen Pavilion, Thirteen Monuments Pavilion, Xingtan, Dacheng Hall and its temples on the central axis.
The main building of Confucius Temple is Dacheng Hall. The temple is 45.78 meters wide, 24.89 meters deep and 24.8 meters high. Its pedestal covers an area of 1.836 square meters, resplendent and magnificent, and it is one of the existing huge ancient buildings in China, comparable to the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City. The most striking thing is the ten stone pillars on the front. There are two dragons carved on each pillar, soaring in the clouds, and there is a treasure pearl between the two dragons, hence the name "Shuanglong Play Pearl". The stone pillars are all stone carvings, which are magnificent. There is a huge statue of Confucius in the temple, which is 3.3 meters high and radiant, powerful but not fierce. On both sides of Confucius statue are "four pairs" statues of Yan Hui, Zeng Shen, Kong Ji and Monk, which are 2.6 meters high. There is also a 2-meter-high statue of Twelve Philosophers.
Shengji Temple, Ming Tombs Pavilion and Dacheng Hall display a large number of stone inscriptions. In particular, the number of Han steles preserved here is the largest in China, and there are many treasures in past dynasties, which are regarded as treasures of calligraphy, painting and sculpture. The most precious are 22 stone carvings from the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties. The number of steles is second only to Xi 'an forest of steles, which is called the second forest of steles in China.
