Festival culture of Purdue Festival
"Pudu" is a kind of Han folk culture phenomenon along the coast of southern Fujian (including Jinmen). It is a traditional Han folk festival which is a combination of Taoist Mid-Autumn Festival and Buddhist Bonsai Festival on the 15th day of the seventh lunar month. In the Song Dynasty, when Quanzhou held a fast on the Mid-Autumn Festival, the word "Purdue" in Buddhism was transformed into a local folk custom. In the Collection of Zhen Xishan, which was well-known by Zhen Dexiu in Quanzhou in the Southern Song Dynasty, there was a message called Purdue Celadon. Since the Song Dynasty, Purdue has been held on July 15th, and there are many things to pray for: either praying for the dead, there is no melancholy; Or the survivors were awarded the title of Five Blessingg Corning; Or it rains to fight drought; Or hope to forgive is to get rid of guilt, and so on. In Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty (182 1- 1850), the sacrificial ceremony of Pudu changed. Daoguang's "Golden Gate Record" (15) said: "Since the first day of July, various societies have set up temples along the monk's road as orchid societies, commonly known as Purdue, to offer sacrifices to ghosts without owners. There is a public sacrifice in Lishe, and each family has a private sacrifice. " Before the founding of New China, Purdue was still very popular in the coastal areas of southern Fujian. People call Purdue in July "Zhengpu". Since the beginning of July, the villages in the store have taken turns to Purdue, and Jinjiang has booked "the green sun is plum at the beginning of the year, and the apricot is king on the second day ..." Day by day, and it has been booked until July 30. There are 38 stores in Quanzhou, so the time for each store to hold Pudu in turn has to be extended. From June 29th to the second day of the eighth lunar month, if it coincides with a leap month, it will be resumed. The largest Pudu in Quanzhou, the first stone lion "Gui Hu Pupu", that is, 65,438+03 village in Gui Hu belongs to 65,438+02 zodiac (among which Houan and Lun are monkeys), and Pudu takes turns to entertain each other at 65,438+02. There is a saying among the local Han people that "Gui Hu Pupu is very famous".
