Because I belong to Chaoshan, Guangdong, I am also a Hakka. Here, we have a very unique custom, that is, on some specific festivals, we will get some vegetables and tea, and invite all kinds of relatives and friends to dinner at home, which is very lively.
The usual practice in vegetable tea is to buy good vegetables in advance, such as spinach, lettuce, oily wheat, vermicelli, wheat, mushrooms, squid, peanuts, sesame and so on. Stir-fry many dishes one by one and then mix them together. After the last step, we will cook the prepared soup base on it, which can be ribs soup or chicken soup. This is a kind of food I like very much, and it is also unique to our Chaoshan side.
Just like when we usually enter a new house, we will make this kind of tea and invite our neighbors and all kinds of relatives and friends in the village to come home to eat together. And if some people may be relatively inconvenient to come over, they will also prepare some bags for others to help them bring food.
