Colonel is the title of field officer in some national armies. In the military rank system of all countries in the world, there is generally a title of colonel. Except for a few countries with senior universities, colonel is the title of the highest rank among school officials.

Promotion period

The Regulations of China People's Liberation Army on Officers' Ranks stipulates that lieutenant colonel is promoted to colonel and colonel to senior colonel for four years each.

The promotion of professional and technical officers to the rank of colonel shall be approved by the heads of China People's Liberation Army headquarters, major military regions, arms and services or other units equivalent to military regions.
