Kangxian County belongs to Longnan City, Gansu Province, which means "peace and well-being". Tanjia Courtyard is a well-preserved quadrangle residential building in Kang County, Gansu Province, and one of the less well-preserved bucket buildings in Gansu Province. It is also a typical representative of residential buildings in Kangxian county, which has high artistic and research value and is a very precious historical and cultural heritage. The building is deeply influenced by Sichuan residential buildings, which has important reference value for studying the relationship and influence between Longnan area and Sichuan buildings.

Tan Jia quadrangles have many commonalities with residential buildings in Kangxian County, but the decorative arts of carving beams and painting buildings and carving stones and laying bricks remind people of the characteristics of typical Sichuan residential buildings.
