Why can't I eat soy sauce when I'm injured?
Some people may have heard the saying that you can't eat soy sauce if you have trauma, otherwise the wound will turn black and leave scars. But there is no scientific basis for saying that you can't eat soy sauce because of trauma.

First of all, soy sauce will not affect the wound recovery. As a traditional condiment of Chinese food, soy sauce is the product of soybean fermentation, which mainly contains amino acids, salt, water and other substances. After soy sauce is absorbed by human body, it will form urea, inorganic salts, water and so on. In addition, soy sauce does not increase photosensitivity, so it will not promote the synthesis, transportation and decomposition of melanocytes. Therefore, eating soy sauce after injury will not cause skin pigmentation.

Secondly, wound healing is affected by many factors, such as wound size, infection degree and human nutritional status, which can be generally divided into three stages. At the initial stage of injury, the wound will bleed to form a blood clot, and the wound will be filled with fibrin, which can prevent infection and promote wound healing. As time goes by, new capillaries and fibroblasts begin to appear inside the wound, the old blood clots will be decomposed and swallowed, and granulation tissue will occupy the damaged part. With the increase of collagen fibers in granulation tissue, granulation tissue gradually transformed into fibrous tissue, wound hardened and scar gradually formed. In the third stage, scar tissue began to take shape gradually to adapt to local physiological functions.

The core of wound healing lies in whether the various cells that perform the repair function can complete the work well. Infection is the enemy of wound healing. Once the wound has active pathogenic bacteria, its enzymes and toxins will greatly interfere with the normal healing process. In severe cases, suppurative lesions will be formed on the wound surface, which will aggravate the destruction of tissue. This is why we need debridement and disinfection after injury. Only in this way can we prevent infection and promote healing to the maximum extent.

To sum up, the wound recovery has nothing to do with what color food you eat during the healing process, and soy sauce will not cause the healed wound to turn black. You know, the substance that causes skin color to turn black is melanin, which is secreted by melanocytes in the epidermis. When ultraviolet rays irradiate the skin and act on the basal layer of the skin, the skin will be in a state of "self-protection", activating the activity of tyrosinase and producing melanin with tyrosine as the substance. After we are injured, melanosis after superficial wound healing is a self-protection mechanism of the body to some extent, which helps to resist ultraviolet damage.

What method can prevent the pigmentation of the wound? Experts give three suggestions: first, it takes at least 3 months to inhibit scar hyperplasia, during which the application of drugs and elastic pressure can reduce pigmentation; Second, we should pay attention to sun protection. If it is a facial wound, reduce contact or stay away from some electronic products to reduce radiation. The third is to avoid eating all sensitive foods, such as lettuce, buckwheat, spinach and leeks.

If you are accidentally injured, you should try to avoid wound infection and inflammation and pay attention to sun protection. This is an effective practice, and some folk rumors are not credible.
