Hucho taiwanese is mainly distributed in Taibai, Shaanxi, the upper reaches of Liuba Hanshui River, Bama Kyle River in Qinghai, the upper reaches of Minjiang River and Dadu River in northwest Sichuan, and Heilongjiang Province in northeast China. It is a cold-water fish left over from the ice age. They inhabit the foothills and streams at an altitude of 700- 1000 meters, and are mostly distributed in the waters with high mountains, narrow rivers, fast-flowing water, high oxygen content and low water temperature on both banks. It is also a fierce carnivorous fish, and its living habits are similar to those of salmon. They like to prey on large aquatic insects, fish, amphibians, waterfowl and aquatic mammals, among which fish include Schizothorax fish, Schizothorax fish and maw fish. The stomach is swollen and the inner wall folds are developed. There are 65-80 pyloric caecum, a few of which gather in the pyloric part, and most of them are arranged on the outer wall of the foregut, and the intestine is slightly longer than the body length. Breeding is carried out under gravel water, with males and females paired, chasing back and forth and nesting together. The diameter of the nest is 150-300 cm. The velocity of water in the nest is 40-60 cm per second. Lay eggs at night and early in the morning. The egg is yellow and non-sticky, with a diameter of 3-4 mm. After the egg is laid, it sinks into the nest and is buried in the gravel to develop and hatch. Larvae grow slowly and reach sexual maturity at about 4-5 years old.
