Diet in the late stage of liver ascites: In the late stage of liver cirrhosis, due to abdominal distension and loss of appetite, the intake of protein decreased, and the loss of protein in ascites reduced the quality of protein in the body. Therefore, patients with hepatic ascites should eat a high-protein diet, such as fish, lean meat, eggs, milk, bean products and other high-quality protein. Give 1.5-2.0g per kilogram of body weight every day. In the late stage of liver cirrhosis, there should be enough calories in the diet, and rice and flour are the staple foods, which can generally meet the daily sugar content. In addition to staple food, limit the consumption of high-sugar foods such as white sugar, honey and desserts to avoid inducing diabetes and obesity. Eat fresh vegetables and fruits properly and supplement vitamins, minerals and trace elements. The intake of fat in the late stage of liver cirrhosis should not be too much, otherwise it may increase the burden on the liver and fatty liver may appear. If the patient can bear it, there is no need to be too harsh. The intake of water and salt should be limited. For patients with severe ascites, the daily intake of water should be limited to 1000ml, and the intake of sodium should be limited to about 1-2g. Some patients can produce spontaneous diuresis and reduce the amount of hepatic ascites by limiting the intake of water and sodium. Patients with severe hyponatremia should control the water intake at the same time, and it is advisable to add 500 ml of urine the day before. At the same time, it should be noted that patients with intractable hepatic ascites should pay special attention to whether they are complicated with bacterial infection in abdominal cavity (peritonitis). It is useless to restrict salt at this time. They must go to specialized hospitals for anti-infection treatment in time. Source: Nanjing 454 Hepatology Hospital /gfs.
