(The protagonist in the Japanese drama "Altman")
Altman has no name. The name "Altman" was invented by human beings to call the mysterious giant who saved them.
Altman is a transliteration of English Motorized Altman, which means Superman and is written as ""in Japanese. The naming concept of "Ultra XXX" comes from 1964, a buzzword during the Tokyo Olympic Games-"Ultrac".
In order to distinguish himself from the Otto soldiers in subsequent works, Altman is also called "the first generation Altman". In China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, there are other names such as "Yoshida Superman", "Super Manpower Overlord" and "Salted Egg Superman".
Creation background
Since the release of Godzilla, a special film about monsters in the 29th year of Showa in Japan (1954), monsters have played an important role in Japanese children's culture. This popular trend called "monster tide" swept across Japan and became a social phenomenon.
With the rise of TV, a new media, Eiji Tsuburaya, who has always loved new things, set up his own company to prepare for the development of TV industry. After the establishment of Yuangu Company, the first work was the monster special program "Otq" jointly produced with TBS. The average audience rating of OTQ reached 32.4%, which was a great success. After the release of OTQ, the monster trend reached its peak, and the production of new monster programs can be said to be imperative.
After discussion, Round Valley and TBS decided that the route of the new program was "Monsters Against each other", and the protagonist happened to be Bemular. But there are also many views that the protagonist and the enemy are monsters and have a sense of disobedience. So on the basis of the basic setting, the setting of monsters was changed to cosmic people, and Narita Heng was responsible for the setting of cosmic people, and the Altman as we know it was born.
image design
The image of Altman was designed by the late Japanese artist and sculptor Cheng tianhao (1929-2002). At the same time, he is also the designer of baltan Star, Gomorrah, Lei Dewang, Jayton and other classic monster images.
Altman's original design was an astronaut wearing similar western armor, but at the request of playwright Tetsuo Kinj? (1938- 1976), he was redesigned.
Later, Narita Hiroshi redesigned Altman according to the idea that the opposite of chaos is order. If the complex monster designed by combining various elements is chaotic, then as the opposite hero, it must be an order with simple and pure beauty.
Under this concept, the redesigned Altman head is extremely simplified without any unnecessary decoration. Referring to Maitreya, a smiling mouth was designed. Narita's idea of Altman's mouth is that "the real strong should be smiling in the battle."
In the design of the body, in order to give Altman a sense of life, Narita painted red stripes symbolizing life and vitality along Altman's muscle direction.
In Narita Heng's design, Altman didn't have a color timer, because Narita Heng thought Altman, as an extreme life, should not have weaknesses, but he finally compromised under Tetsuo Kinj?'s persuasion. Tetsuo Kinj? wants to add a color timer for two reasons:
Adding the hero's fighting time limit can effectively enhance the tension and excitement of fighting.
Reducing Altman's appearance time can effectively help the crew save the cost of holster maintenance.
After Jincheng informed the above two reasons, Narita Heng agreed to add a color timer for Altman, but Narita Heng's bottom line was that "in order to avoid the serious damage of the color timer to Altman's overall design, blue with weak visual sense must be used as the initial color of the color timer", and Tetsuo Kinj? accepted this request.
Thus, the image of Altman we saw was born.
