Mr. Lv Zijian was born in Guangxu 19, namely 1893, from Yichang, Hubei. Over the years, his seclusion has never been too ostentatious, but he only occasionally participates in some activities related to the elderly, and his years of contacts with Huo Yuanjia are even less known.
The Origin of "Heroes of the Yangtze River"
In 1930s, Shanghai was the most important commodity distribution center and transshipment port in China, and the waterway transportation route along the Yangtze River was also the most important economic lifeline of China at that time. At that time, there were more than a dozen foreign shipping companies on the Yangtze River route, while the national industry only had Minsheng Shipping Company. Foreign shipping companies run amok on the Yangtze River route, and hundreds or even thousands of tons of ships are advancing at full speed on the route, with no scruples about the life and property safety of China fishermen working near the route. From time to time, the hull and the huge waves it set off upset and overturned the fishing boats and cargo ships in China, which gained their "high speed and high efficiency" at the expense of the lives and property of the people of China, and also made the national industries and people's livelihood shipping companies with scruples on the verge of bankruptcy.
After being introduced, the chairman of Minsheng Shipping Company found Mr. Lv Zijian and asked him to find a way. With patriotic blood, Lv Zijian and his friends ran around, shouting and calling on people not to take foreign ships. At the same time, they called China pilots, sailors and other China personnel on foreign ships to Minsheng Shipping Company, and the foreign shipping company stopped working completely. The frustrated foreign shipping company paid a lot of money to invite Hideo Mitsui, a famous Japanese samurai and ronin leader, to fight it out and make a life-and-death contract in Yichang tinker. As a result, the other party was killed, and the national humiliation of the "sick man of East Asia" disappeared. China won! People's resentment boiled, and Minsheng Shipping Company hired Lv Zijian as the vice chairman of the company on the spot. However, Lv Zijian, who is indifferent to fame and fortune, declined politely, but put forward a condition: in the future, all the poor people who hold the road he wrote will find Minsheng Shipping Company to take a boat, and the company will waive the fare and send five yuan for travelling expenses when they arrive at their destination. Since then, the reputation of Mr. Lv Zijian, the "Warrior of the Yangtze River", has spread all over the country.
1945, another great event happened in Lv Zijian's life. At that time, General Marshall of the United States had a bodyguard named Tom Newham, an American boxer who was very arrogant. He challenged in Chungking, threatening to defeat all China people. Although this man is arrogant, he does have some real kung fu in his hand. So although there were many good challengers, they were all defeated by Tom Newham. So Tom Newham became even more arrogant. He not only boasted about China's kung fu, but also arrogantly insulted China people as "the sick man of East Asia". Lv Zijian was furious when he learned of this situation, so he went to see Chiang Kai-shek and demanded to compete with the American fanatic. With the consent of Chiang Kai-shek and Marshall, Lv Zijian and Tom Newham signed a contract of life and death. At that time, many people were worried about him after hearing about it, and some even advised him to give up the contest. But he laughed it off. Finally, as a result of the contest between the two men, Lv Zijian knocked down Tom Newham with the eight diagrams palm. Three days later, Tom Newham was seriously injured and died. Lv Zijian breathed a sigh of relief for the people of China.
Know Huo Yuanjia.
Lv Zijian is associated with "San" and "Three Children" who often perform martial arts in Beijing Tianqiao. These three "three sons", namely Shen San and Yan Zili San, all know martial arts and often rob the rich to help the poor. Huo Yuanjia, who was in Tientsin at that time, wanted to meet the "Third Son", but it was the rule of martial arts at that time and someone had to introduce him. Therefore, Huo Yuanjia first came to Beijing to visit Lv Zijian, hoping that Lv Zijian would introduce him to his "three sons". And the rule is that no matter how old you are, you have to call people "brothers", which led to the experience that Huo Yuanjia, who was at least in his thirties at that time, called Lv Zijian "brothers" who was only a teenager.
Lv Zijian remembers that he asked Huo Yuanjia in "jargon" at that time: "Are you going through the city or going around?" Huo Yuanjia, on the other hand, pinned his collar with the guild regulations, grabbed one sleeve, and then bowed: "I'm not going into the city, nor around the city. I'm here to pay homage to my brother ..."
Lu Lao still remembers that when he, Huo Yuanjia and the third son finally sat together, they drank a jar of wine happily.
