Originated from the ancient Greek legend, King theseus of Dionysus invited his minister Damocles to dinner and sat him under a cold shining sword with a horse's mane. The resulting foreign allusions mean that people are in a state of crisis and endure in the Jedi. Or have a sense of crisis at any time and sound an alarm in your heart.
The story itself means serious consequences that may be brought at any time. After peace, there is danger, anxiety, caution and independence.
2. Pandora's box:
Pandora (Greek: π α ν δ? ρα; Pandora, the first woman on the earth made of clay by hephaestus or Zeus in Greek mythology, was given to human beings as a punishment for Prometheus' creation and stealing fire. The gods also joined in, making her more attractive.
According to the myth, Pandora opened the magic box and released all the evils in the world-greed, hypocrisy, slander, jealousy, pain and so on. However, according to the wishes of Zeus, the king of the gods, Pandora closed the lid of the box before hoping to release it, and finally locked it in the box forever.
3. Achilles heel:
Achilles' heel (Achilles' heel) originally refers to Achilles' heel, which is his only weakness, because it is the only place where he has not been soaked in divine water. Later, he was shot in the Trojan War. Now it refers to fatal weakness.
Achilles is the precious son of mortal peleus and beautiful fairy thetis. In order to make his son into a golden bell jar, thetis dipped it upside down into the Styx when he was just born. Unfortunately, his mother's heel accidentally emerged from the water, leaving the only "dead hole" in his body.
Later Achilles was shot in the ankle by Paris and died. Later generations often use "Achilles' heel" as a metaphor for the truth that even powerful heroes have fatal loopholes or weaknesses.
Damocles, an extended material, is a character in an independent moral anecdote, which was later added to the ancient Greek culture.
This image is a legend, not a Greek myth. Anecdote appeared in the Lost History of Sicily written by Timaios of taormina (356 BC-260 BC). Cicero may have read about it in the works of Diodoros Sikus, and quoted it in his book Tuskulan Argument V.2 1.
The sword of Damocles is usually used to symbolize this legend, which means that having great power is very unsafe and easy to be taken away, or simply, it feels that the end is coming.
The woodcut of the sword of Damocles appeared in the European book patterns of16th century and17th century. The Sword of Damocles is also the title of a song in the movie "Loki Horror Party", which was first broadcast on 1975.
Pandora's myth has a long history, with different versions and interpretations from different angles. However, in all literary versions, this myth is regarded as natural theology to explain the existence of evil in the world. In the 7th century BC, hesiod's Divine Spectrum (570 lines, Pandora's name was probably mentioned but not completely pointed out) and Works and Days were the earliest literary works about Pandora's story.
Accordingly, Pandora's Box is often borrowed in English, meaning "the source of disaster", and opening Pandora's Box means "causing all kinds of disasters".
