Ampullaria canaliculata is a mollusk belonging to Ampullaria of Ampullaria family. Shells are similar to snails in appearance. It has a spiral shell, and the color of the shell changes with the environment and the age of the snail. Glossy, with several thin longitudinal lines, the head and abdomen protrude when crawling. There are two pairs of antennas in the head, the front antenna is short, the back antenna is long, and there is an eye on the outside of the back antenna base. The snail has a 1 thick lung straw on its left side. The adult shell is thick, 7 cm high, the larval shell is thin, the suture line of the shell sinks into the shallow ditch, and the umbilical cord is deep and wide.
Pomacea canaliculata likes to live in fresh water with sufficient bait, and mostly inhabit in shallow water near the pool in groups. It is an omnivorous snail with a wide range of feeding habits, mainly feeding on duckweed vegetables and fruits. It especially likes sweets and carrion of animals in water. Native to tropical and subtropical areas of Central America, such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Widely distributed in more than ten countries such as Asia and Africa, it has become a world-wide alien invasive organism.
