At present, there are three situations in which lay people go to work in temples:
1, the temple recruits talents with special skills. For example, large temples recruit film and television producers, electricians and vegetarian chefs, and the treatment is based on the social reference salary.
2, semi-volunteers, some temples need a lot of stable volunteers, giving living expenses every month, which is the so-called "single silver".
3, pure volunteers, this situation is the most, relatively large temples, all need such volunteers, free accommodation, but no money.
Extended data:
Division of labor and responsibilities of temple volunteers:
1, Xiangqun: responsible for distributing incense free of charge. (Because it is forbidden to bring a lot of inferior incense outside to burn in the temple, volunteers distribute it at the entrance of the mountain.)
2. Library group: responsible for the management of the temple library.
3, canteen group: working in the canteen, washing vegetables, washing dishes, and so on.
4. Jushi Building Group: responsible for arranging single beds for Jushi, washing sheets and so on.
5. Health group: responsible for temple health, etc.
6. Lecture hall group: responsible for the arrangement of various dharma meetings in the temple, the placement of tables and chairs, the distribution of scriptures and so on.
Precautions:
1, you should learn to master basic Buddhist etiquette and learn some rules of eating and living in temples.
2. Abide by the Five Commandments and volunteer in the temple, regardless of whether you have received the Five Commandments or not, because the temple is a clean Dojo, and you must never do anything like killing, stealing, debauchery or drinking in it.
3. It is especially important to note that you can't use instruments, monks' tools or take anything from the temple house without authorization. This is a very serious sin.
You can't say that there is anything wrong with the monks in the temple. It is a serious crime to talk casually about the fault of spreading monks. Please be careful!
