Donkey hide gelatin is made from donkey skin.
Donkey hide gelatin is a solid gelatin block made from decoction and concentration of donkey skin. The main production area is in Shandong, and is abundant in Dong'e County. It has a history of more than 2,000 years. Ejiao was first recorded in "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" and was listed as top grade.
According to records in many ancient books, it is known that the raw materials of donkey hide gelatin in ancient times were cowhide, donkey skin and various other animal skins. By the Tang Dynasty, people gradually discovered that using donkey skin to brew donkey hide gelatin had better medicinal effects, so they switched to donkey skin and it is still used today. Donkey-hide gelatin is widely used in the field of traditional Chinese medicine. It is often used to make dietary supplements and medicines, or is added as an ingredient in various health and beauty products.
The production process of donkey-hide gelatin
1. Material selection: Choose high-quality donkey skin as raw material, usually male donkey skin aged 3-6 years old because of its better texture.
2. Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the donkey skin to remove dirt and impurities on the surface.
3. Boiling: Put the cleaned donkey skin into a large pot or furnace, heat it, and boil it for a period of time to concentrate and solidify it.
4. Filtration: Filter the glue juice through a filter screen or bag to remove impurities and solid particles.
5. Freezing: Place the filtered glue juice in a container to cool naturally, so that it gradually solidifies into a gel-like substance.
6. Cutting and packaging: Cut and package the solidified donkey-hide gelatin, usually into blocks or sheets for easy use and storage.
