This area was originally divided into Rongqi and Guizhou, and then merged into Ronggui Town in 2000. In ancient times, Rongqi was a small fishing village on a tributary of the Xijiang River. Guizhou was named after the osmanthus tree that was a specialty of Fu Ning (the area around Siji in present-day Ronggui) in the Song Dynasty. Behind the word Ronggui is a reflection of the affluence and prosperity of Shunde's fishing and rice countryside.
Today, Ronggui is the industrial center of Shunde, but it is also the gourmet town of Shunde. Shunde local and other places of food in this melting convergence, and constantly push the new, is the foodies can not miss the place. Every year, the Shunde Chefs Association organizes a number of food-related competitions, such as the Most Popular Shunde Morning Tea Banquet Competition.
Last year's winner of the most popular Shunde Morning Tea was, of course, Pudding's favorite, Taste of the Road. Speaking of Taste of Shunde, when we first met it, Pudding didn't realize that it had all sorts of prestigious awards behind it, such as the Most Popular Morning Tea Award, and the "Famous Chinese Food and Beverage Restaurant" awarded by the China Culinary Association.
The only thing that attracted me to this place is that even the locals love to come here for tea, even if there is a long line. Whether it's a gathering of old friends or a festive reunion, there are long lines at Taste of China from morning to night.
Yes, it's open from morning tea to night tea, from 7 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. (with a two-hour break after lunch). By the way, it's also one of the few eateries in Shunde that stays open all year round during the Chinese New Year.
So far, the pudding hasn't stepped on any toes at Aji Kodo, and basically, I've ordered one and loved it. The only drawback is that his stomach capacity is really limited, and it will take him some time to go through all the dishes in the restaurant.
Taste of the road is a restaurant group, opened in Shunde taste of the road food workshop, taste of the road and taste of the road banquet and taste of the road private kitchen and so on several stores. I've heard that there are also branches in Zhongshan.
The Taste of China Gourmet Place on Fu Ji Road is connected to Taste of China Private Kitchen by a pathway. There are times when there is no place for pudding, and the minister will ask us if we want to sit in the private kitchen. The prices and dishes are the same as those in the Gourmet Place, but the only difference is that the private kitchen is a big table, so you may need to share the table with others.
The restaurant serves a mix of traditional Cantonese dishes, such as pork belly and steamed fish, as well as specialties that incorporate other cuisines.
For example, the Ghost Horse 5-6 spring rolls, which wrap fresh shrimp in green mustard in thin spring rolls, are like Glico Baci, but savory and meant to be dipped in soy sauce.
Babu white scallops are also a classic, with fresh white scallops layered over baby vegetables, and the broth sauce adds a spicy kick that's both refreshing and appetizing. After eating the shells come back to eat baby vegetables, which is the essence of the whole dish. Absorbing the aroma of the broth, the freshness of the white scallops, and the sweetness of the baby vegetables themselves, it's so good that it can only be included in the must-order menu every time you visit.
The Gold Medal Red Bean Thin Push-ups, Signature Crispy Muffins and Mini Rabbit Cake Pie are all gold medals, each with their own specialties. The only caution is that it's best not to eat too much of them, as you may get too many calories afterward.
When you dine at Taste of Kodo, its dim sum, soups and congee are not to be missed. Because these types of dishes are by their family decades of experience master chef sitting in the gatekeeper, strict quality control. The enthusiasm of Shunde locals is the best proof of the caliber of this store.
After all, in Shunde, everyone is a gourmet.
Everyone in Shunde is a gourmet.
