The pomegranate matures into a large, multi-chambered, multi-seeded berry, with a majority of seeds in each chamber; the outer seed coat is fleshy, bright red, light red or white, juicy, sweet and acidic, i.e., the edible portion; the inner seed coat is horny, and there are also degraded and softened, i.e., soft-seeded pomegranate.

Growth habit
