There are two drafts per year, the Spring Draft and the Summer and Fall Draft. The spring conscription is February-March. The summer and fall conscription is August-September. Then the start time is in mid-February and early August.

Legal basis: The Military Service Law of the People's Republic of China:

Article 11 The number of persons to be recruited each year for active military service throughout the country, the requirements and the time for such service shall be prescribed by the State Council and by order of the Central Military Commission.

Local people's governments at all levels above the county level organize military service organs and relevant departments to form recruitment work agencies, which are responsible for organizing and carrying out the recruitment work.

Article 12 Male citizens who have reached the age of eighteen by December 31 of each year shall be conscripted for active service. Those who have not been recruited in the current year may still be recruited for active service before they reach the age of twenty-two, and the age of recruitment for graduates of ordinary colleges and universities may be relaxed to twenty-four. According to the needs of the armed forces, female citizens may be recruited for active service in accordance with the provisions of the preceding paragraph. According to the needs of the army and their own volition, citizens who have reached the age of seventeen but not yet eighteen before December 31 of the current year may be recruited for active service.

Article 41? Reserve soldiers who have not served in active service and who have been pre-integrated into active service units, into reserve units and into basic militia organizations shall, between the age of eighteen and twenty-four, take part in military training for a period of thirty to forty days, of which the training time for professional and technical soldiers shall be determined in accordance with actual needs. The refresher training of reserve soldiers who have served on active duty and have received military training, as well as the military training of other reserve soldiers, shall be conducted in accordance with the regulations of the Central Military Commission.

Article 42 Reserve officers shall participate in military training for three to six months during the period of reserve service; if they are pre-arranged to serve in active duty and serve in the reserve forces, the period of participation in military training may be appropriately extended.
