Dongfeng refused to enter the east gate, and the horse went to find a village.
People are like Qiu Hong, and things are like spring dreams.
Jiangcheng three cups of white wine, wild old pale face a warm smile.
I make an appointment for this meeting every year, so I don't need to assign "evocation".
In the vernacular, the east wind of spring still refuses to blow into the East Gate. You and I have already rode out of the city to find the village we visited last year. People, like autumn geese, come and go with traces of news. But the past is like a big dream in spring, without even a trace left.
We went to the pub on the edge of Jiangcheng and drank three glasses of good wine brewed by the restaurant. The folk customs here are simple, and the old people in the countryside will welcome you with a warm smile on their vicissitudes. We agreed to go for an outing in the East Gate every spring, so, old friends, you don't have to worry.
Extended data
This poem comes from the twelfth volume of Su Shi's poems. When the author wrote this poem, he had been in Huangzhou for two years. "Pan Er and Guo Ersheng" in the title of the poem refers to Pan Bing and Li Guo who live together in Huangzhou. On the 20th day of the first month of the year before last, Su Shi visited the pavilion. Pan Bing, Guo Gou and another new friend sent them to Queenstown and wrote a seven-tone song. A year has passed, and now it is the twentieth day of the first month. So I wrote this poem.
The first sentence is based on the idea I felt the year before last. "East wind" is the messenger of spring. If there is a feeling of spring in the city, the messenger of "Dongfeng" will first enter from the east gate. Just in the early spring when the suburbs have not yet entered the city, poets eager for spring will take the initiative to "go out to find spring." He is looking for spring in the old place, which is also a "walking horse", so the second sentence says "walking horse still looks for the old village"
Three or four sentences "People are like Qiu Hong" are actually connected with the first couplet; "Things are like spring dreams", which is reflected in the following. The enterprising life and the indifference of political ambition led to the detached and broad-minded pursuit of spring in the suburbs, and the joy of spring outing expressed in the following four sentences. Su Shi sent love poems in Huangzhou, made new friends and old friends, and was especially enthusiastic about benefiting the people, which was different from the passive seclusion of frustrated literati.
