The yellow-throated babbler is a slightly smaller babbler, with a length of 23 cm and a weight of 55-57 grams. The crown is blue-gray, characterized by a large black mask, which contrasts sharply with the bright yellow throat and the beautiful yellow of the lower body. The eyebrows are white, the rest of the head (eyes, cheeks and ear feathers) are black, and all the upper parts of the tail are brown ocher. The upper body is brown, the tail end is black with a white edge, the lower body is light yellow, the sides are olive-toned, and the belly and undertail coverts are yellow and gradually turn to white. In flight, the white outer tail feathers and undertail create a very showy appearance. It is named after its bright and conspicuous yellow throat. The feathers are very delicate, with reddish-brown irises and blue eye rings; the bird's beak is black; its legs and feet are black and gray.
