Academician Jin Zhanpeng mainly tackled the study of phase diagram thermodynamics and phase transition dynamics, developed thermodynamic models and phase diagram optimization calculation methods for phases with different structural characteristics, constructed a series of phase diagrams of metal alloys, zirconia-based ceramics and artificial crystal materials, developed a multi-element diffusion couple method for studying isothermal cross sections and isothermal tetrahedrons of phase diagrams, and achieved the information of isothermal cross sections and non-diffusion metastable phase transition zones of ternary phase diagrams with one sample. The theory of staged metastable phase transition is established, and various dynamic channels are studied based on the phase diagram with different thermodynamic variables as coordinates, and a theoretical framework for simulating the evolution process of material structure is established, which is used to predict and clarify the amorphous formation region of alloy, the interfacial reaction process of composite materials and the formation conditions of thermal corrosion products.
