Why did the salted razor clam come out?
There are two reasons:

1, high tide: SINONOVACULA constricta generally lives on the coast, and it can only be found on the shore after the low tide. In order to capture it more easily, it will simulate the high tide environment, so sprinkling salt will make SINONOVACULA constricta mistakenly think that it is high tide, and they will get out of the hole and come into the water, so it will be easy to capture it when they get out.

2. Fear: The suitable salt content of the razor clam is 0.4%-2.8%. The razor clam is intolerant of high salt and hyperosmotic environment. If more salt is sown in its environment, and the salt contains more sodium ions, it will change the living environment of the razor clam, and the razor clam will escape from the environment because of fear of salt, so it will run out of the nest, which is convenient.

Related information:

If the razor clam hasn't come out after being sprinkled with salt, it may be that the salt hasn't penetrated into it, and the razor clam has entered the cave deeply, so it won't come out. You can sprinkle more salt at the entrance of the razor clam hole. If the razor clam is there, it will usually come out.

If there is still no hole after adding salt, it is necessary to consider whether this is a scorpion hole or whether there are scorpions in this scorpion hole. Generally, it is recommended to change the hole and try again.
