1985, he was awarded the honorary Doctor of Technology by his alma mater, University of Louvre. In 2009 1 1 month, he was awarded an honorary doctor of science degree by university of east london.

1982 became MBE, 1990 became OBE. On May 16, 2000, he became a lifelong aristocrat Baron Coe. In 2006, he became KBE because of his contribution to sports.

1987 won the Prince of Asturias Award (sports category). In 20051February, he won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Special Award. 2 gold medals
