First, the cutting time
Geranium is suitable for cutting in spring and autumn, especially in April-May and August-September. During this period, the climate is warm and the rainfall is just right, which is suitable for geranium growth. In winter, if it is cultivated in greenhouse, cutting propagation can also be carried out.
Second, the cutting method
1. Prepare the soil
Pelargonium needs humus-rich soil. Peat soil, humus soil, perlite and vermiculite can be prepared and mixed evenly according to the ratio of 4:3:2: 1 as culture soil.
2. Select cuttings
On geranium plants, the branches about 10- 15 cm were cut with sterilized scissors, and the stout and healthy top branches were the best. Cut off some leaves and keep the top 1-2 leaves. Soak the branches in rooting water for 30 minutes, take them out and put them in a cool and ventilated place to dry. When the wound forms a film, it can be cut.
Step 3: Cutting
Prepare containers of suitable size, and you can choose discarded flower pots. Put a tile on the bottom of the basin, fill it with culture soil and smooth the soil. Punch holes in the soil surface with chopsticks, insert cuttings into the holes and bury the soil around the holes. Proper watering and controlling the temperature at 15-25℃ can easily make geranium take root and survive.
