Zhao Hongben, [Modern and Modern Times] (1915.6-2000.5). Zhao Qing, originally from Funing, Jiangsu, was born in Shanghai. He taught himself painting by copying "Mustard Seed Garden Painting Biography" when he was young.

In 1932, he went to Shanghai People's Bookstore to learn how to draw comic strips.

In 1937, he attended a day and night school and was influenced by progressive ideas.

In 1939, he left the profession to make a living independently. In the ten years to the beginning of 1949, he successively created and published "Wen Tianxiang", "Shi Kefa", "The True Story of Ah Q", "The Peach and Plum Tribulation", "The Roaring" There are more than 120 comic books including "Xujiatun".

In the 1940s, under the pseudonym Zhang Gong, he published political satires in the bimonthly "Life Knowledge" that exposed the atrocities committed by the Japanese invaders against China and supported the anti-civil war and anti-hunger movements.

In May 1949, he served as the president of Shanghai New Voice Publishing House, organized the creation and publication of new comic strips, participated in the founding of the Shanghai Comic Book Writers Association, and was elected as the chairman.

In 1950, he was transferred to the editorial department of the East China Branch of Xinhua Bookstore and served as deputy leader of the comic strip group.

In 1951, he was transferred to the deputy section chief of the Comics Department of East China People's Publishing House.

In 1952, he was transferred to deputy director of the editorial department of New Fine Arts Publishing House.

Since 1956, he has been the director of the comic book creation room at Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House.

Retired in 1985.

Member of the Chinese Artists Association, executive director of the Shanghai Branch of the Artists Association, vice president of the Chinese Comics Research Association, and director of the Shanghai Branch of the China Publishing Workers Association.

Good at comic strips and Chinese paintings.

He has been engaged in comic book creation for more than 50 years and has created and published more than 350 kinds of comic books.

Among them, "Sun Wukong Three Fights against the Bone Demon", a collaboration with Qian Xiaodai, won the first prize for painting in the first national comic book creation award.

Chinese painting works include the long scroll "Water Margin 108 Prizes" and so on.
