Take a 15x15 cm piece of craft paper with the pattern facing out. Fold each of the two opposite corners in half once, making sure that the corners are aligned and that the creases are neat. The crease should be in the shape of an "X".
Turn the paper over. Fold it left and right, then open it up and fold it up and down. After that your paper should be a rectangle.
For the bottom open half, you'll lightly press on the top left and top right corners. The center crease will buckle and the four corners will stitch together at the bottom, which should now form a square diamond shape, flatten your square diamonds and make sure they are symmetrical from side to side.
Rotate the diamond 180 degrees and the open part will be at the top.
Fold the bottom of both the left and right side of the diamond towards the center crease. This will look like a kite when folded. Turn the diamond over and repeat the previous step.
Open the petals. Grasp the top of the kite. Using your thumb and forefinger, fold it down to about 3/4 of the way, pressing hard on the center part of the flower to make the crease more visible.
Place the other petals flexibly as well. Place the petals next to each other where you want them to be, so you can gather them all together next to the stem.
Use scissors or floral toothpickers to cut the edges into round or scalloped shapes. The rounded edges look like tricolor violets and the scalloped ones look like carnations.
