According to its shape and size, this huge bald Mabo is easy to recognize. A typical specimen is about the size of a football, but it is not so round. However, it may be much bigger than football (the largest one found so far is 5 feet long and weighs 50 pounds! ), and its shape is more like a ball than a ball. But it will never look like an upside-down pear, because it doesn't have the aseptic base common to other puffballs. Mature puffballs will explode when touched, and will blow out a kind of dust mist.
