1. Observation type. Genuine Tieguanyin dry tea is heavy and dark green in color. If it is light fermentation, it will mostly be green, and some will be golden yellow; if it is medium fermentation, most of it will be golden or orange. In addition, the leaves of Tieguanyin with white frost are basically curled, which is said to have dragonfly heads and toad legs.
2. Listen to the sound. Due to its texture and production process, high-quality Tieguanyin will be relatively solid and heavier than inferior tea. Therefore, you can identify it by the sound during the process of putting tea leaves. If it makes a crisp "clang" sound when placed in a teapot, it is of high quality. If it makes a dull and gloomy sound, it is a defective product.
3. Observe the color. High-quality Tieguanyin soup is pure and golden in color, and the top grade is even more glossy and bright in color. For example, some products that are light in color and not pure after brewing are defective products.
4. Bottom of leaves. In the past, a big way for us to identify whether Tieguanyin was pure or not was to see whether there was any red edge after brewing. True if there is. In fact, the so-called red edge is the dark red color that appears on the edge of the tea leaves. But now the craftsmanship pays attention to excellence, and many tea leaves have their red edges removed during processing, so we rarely see red edges now. However, since the edges are removed during processing, the edges of the leaves must be incomplete. As long as you take out the soaked tea leaves and look at the edges, you can draw a conclusion.
5. The fragrance of tea. It is said that Tieguanyin's "orchid fragrance" cannot be imitated by tea, and Tieguanyin with orchid fragrance is full of mellow flavor. Generally speaking, the "orchid fragrance" of Tieguanyin is divided into two types, one is rigid and overbearing but lacks aftertaste; the other is pure, subtle and has a long history, both of which are top-grade. In addition, some Tieguanyin products failed due to production process failure and did not have this elegant "orchid fragrance", so they were regarded as defective products.
