Mangji persimmon (scientific name: Garcia mangostana L.), commonly known as mangosteen, or mangosteen, mangosteen and mangosteen. Leaf blade is thick leathery, glossy, oval or elliptic-oblong, with short tapering tip and wide wedge-shaped or nearly round base. Originally from Maluku, it is widely cultivated in tropical areas of Asia and Africa; China, Taiwan Province, Fujian, Guangdong and Yunnan have also introduced or tried planting. As a famous tropical fruit, it can be eaten raw or preserved. The red pigment in the exocarp can be used to make dyes.
