The Hair Crow Curlew (scientific name: Dicrurus hottentottus) is a bird of the genus Curlew in the family Crowidae, inhabiting hills and mountainous forests at medium and low altitudes, and preferring to move in groups in the morning and evening. It mostly nests in the sunny branches at the top of tall trees at the edge of the forest. It mainly feeds on various insects such as golden tortoise beetle, golden flower bug, locust, grasshopper, bamboo worm, toon weevil, ladybug, ant, bee, dragonfly, cicada, etc. It also eats a small amount of plant fruits, seeds, leaf buds and other plant foods occasionally. It is listed in the IUCN International Red Book of Birds, 2009 list Least Concern ver 3.1, and the List of Beneficial or Economically and Scientifically Important Terrestrial Wildlife under State Protection issued by the State Forestry Administration of China on August 1, 2000.
