1. Different families and genera

Wumei belongs to the Rosaceae plant plum. The bayberry has lush branches, round crown, and abundant red fruits in early summer, which is very cute.

Arbutus belongs to the class Magnoliaceae, Myricaceae, and Arbutus is a small tree or shrub plant. It is also called Shengshengmei and Baidimei.

2. Different appearance

The surface of ebony plum is black or brown, wrinkled and uneven, and there are round fruit stem marks at the base. The core is hard, oval, brown, with concave spots on the surface. The seeds are flat and oval, light yellow.

The red bayberry drupe is spherical, with papillary protrusions on the outside, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, dark red or purple when mature; the core is often broad oval or rounded, slightly flattened.

3. Different distributions

Wumei plums are cultivated in all parts of my country, but most of them are in the provinces south of the Yangtze River Basin. There are also a few varieties in northern Jiangsu and southern Henan, and some varieties have been introduced in North China. Successful, Japan and North Korea also have it.

Yangmei likes acidic soil and is native to China’s temperate and subtropical humid climates on hillsides or valley forests at an altitude of 125-1500 meters. It is mainly distributed in the south of the Yangtze River Basin, north of Hainan Island, and in Southeast Asian countries. Countries such as India, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Philippines are also distributed.
