Fritillaria

[Nature and flavor] Fritillary fritillary from Zhejiang Province is bitter and cold; Fritillary fritillary from Sichuan Fritillaria has a bland taste.

[Function] (1) Fritillaria Fritillaria clears the lungs and relieves coughs, resolves phlegm and dissipates stagnation: used for coughs due to lung heat and carbuncles and scrofula. Use it with Anemarrhena to treat cough due to lung heat; use it with Radix Ginseng and Oyster to treat scrofula and phlegm core. (2) Fritillaria Fritillaria moistens the lungs, relieves coughs and reduces phlegm: used for coughs caused by yin deficiency and excessive fire or dryness that damages the lungs.

[Usage] 3~10 grams.

Trichosanthes trichosanthes

[Nature and flavor] Sweet and cold.

[Function] (1) Trichosanthes melon moistens the lungs and widens the chest, clears away heat and resolves phlegm, moistens the intestines and laxatives: used for lung heat and thick phlegm, chest pain, heartache, and dry stools. To treat chest pain and heartache (such as angina pectoris), use Xiebai. (2) Trichosanthes trichosanthes peel (Trichosanthes trichosanthes peel) clears away heat and resolves phlegm, widens the chest and relieves diaphragm: used for cough due to phlegm-heat and chest pain. (3) Trichosanthes trichosanthes or Trichosanthes trichosanthes seeds: moisturizing and smoothing the intestines: used for intestinal dryness and constipation.

[Usage] 10-20 grams of whole Trichosanthes melon; 6-12 grams of melon peel; 10-15 grams of melon kernels.

Tianzhu Huang

[Nature and flavor] Sweet and cold.

[Function] Clear away heat and eliminate phlegm, cool the heart and calm the nerves: used for cough due to lung heat and excessive phlegm: coma and delirium due to febrile and venereal diseases, epilepsy and convulsions in children and mute speech in adults, which belong to the pericardium where phlegm and heat accumulate. For those, it is often paired with silkworm, coptis, and fritillary.

[Usage] 3~6 grams.

Zhuru

[Nature and flavor] Sweet, slightly cold.

[Function] Clear away heat, resolve phlegm and stop vomiting: used for cough due to lung heat and vomiting due to stomach heat.

[Usage] 6~10 grams.

Pangdahai

[Nature and flavor] Sweet, light, cool.

[Function] (1) Clear lung heat and open lung qi: used for hoarseness due to lung heat, cough due to phlegm heat, and red, swollen and painful throat. Two pieces of Pang Dahai can be brewed in boiling water instead of tea to treat lung heat, hoarseness, and unpleasant phlegm. (2) Intestinal cleansing and laxative: used for head bloating, red eyes, fever and other symptoms caused by constipation.

[Usage] 3~5 pieces. Take it soaked in boiling water or decoction.

Sea pumice

[Nature and flavor] Salty and cold.

[Function] (1) Clearing the lungs and resolving phlegm: used for lung heat, thick phlegm and hemoptysis, often combined with Fritillaria. (2) Soften and dissipate hard knots: used for scrofula, goiter, and urinary tract stones. Use it with kelp and seaweed to treat lymphatic tuberculosis and chronic lymphadenitis.

[Usage] 6~10 grams.

Seaweed

[Nature and flavor] Salty and cold.

[Function] Resolving phlegm and eliminating gall tumors: used for lymph node tuberculosis and thyroid enlargement, often combined with kelp.

[Usage] 10~15 grams.

Kombu

[Nature and flavor] Salty and cold.

[Function] Resolving phlegm and softening hardness: used for goiter and lymph node tuberculosis, often combined with seaweed.

[Usage] 10~15 grams.

Bai Qian

[Nature and flavor] pungent, bitter, slightly warm.

[Function] Xuanfei and Qi, resolving phlegm and relieving cough: used for cold cough, asthma with excessive phlegm or phlegm in the throat, often combined with aster and pinellia. This product is not only used for cold cough, but also for treating hot cough.
