On the one hand, trans fatty acids often exist in semi-hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oils. Hydrogenated vegetable oil is made from vegetable oil by hydrogenation on unsaturated double bond with catalyst, which improves the saturation of vegetable oil, makes its properties more stable and has special flavor.
In this hydrogenation process, it is difficult to produce trans fatty acids by hydrogenation completely, and a large number of trans fatty acids will be produced by incomplete hydrogenation, so whether trans fatty acids are contained depends on the hydrogenation degree of vegetable oil. On the other hand, if vegetable oil is heated at high temperature for a long time, it will also produce trans fatty acids, so when cooking at home, try to cook at low temperature to reduce the intake of fried food.
Precautions for vegetable oil
Edible vegetable oil is edible oil made from edible vegetable oil or plant crude oil. Common are soybean oil, rapeseed oil, peanut oil, sesame oil, edible plant blending oil and so on. Among them, edible plant blending oil is made of two or more oils through scientific formula.
Buy prepackaged edible vegetable oil in a regular supermarket. Select products whose production date is close to the purchase time and are under warranty. Edible vegetable oil should be clear and transparent when it exists in liquid form. When eating at home, it is appropriate to choose suitable small packages of edible vegetable oil according to the number of people. It is difficult to guarantee the quality and safety of edible vegetable oil in bulk, so it is not recommended for consumers to buy it.
